We're 12-1 in the last 4 Oxford Regionals... Winning all of them... Doesn't mean much this year but we play well in our home regionals... Now Super Regionals.......

They have done it several times. Nothing new by the committee.

My question was why would they do that/care?

i thought the biggest shock was Ole Miss wasnt even in contention for a national seed per the committee head

That was a head-scratcher.

He said Vandy was considered as well, which makes no sense.

I don't think they are out to get OM specifically. In 2011 they left a 26 RPI LSU team out of the field of 64 along with top 40 RPI Ole Miss and East Tennessee State. My point was more that they do OM no favors historically than anything else.

Real tough draw for them..and their prize for winnin it will be a trip to ULL, where they're nearly unbeatable.

We always get fricked. They're just determined we never make it to Omaha.

Why would the committee collectively decide to screw OM? No offense, but highly doubtful.

You're clearly showing you haven't been in the SEC all that long if you don't know that they have been fricking us for decades.

Washington is very good and runner up to OSU in the Pac12... Tech's resume ain't bad but nobody gives a fck and it's better to keep it that way..

To be honest , I'm glad LSU took care of business in Hoover once we didn't... We sure as hell didn't want them as the #2 in Lafayette.

It's undoubtedly one of the top 2-3 toughest regionals.

The others I may contend are UVA's and Cal Poly.

UVA has Arkansas who is certainly a threat to win as a 2 seed, Liberty who won their conference and was ranked earlier in the year, and Bucknell who won't win the regional but is consistently making the NCAA tournament.

Cal Poly is easy to say is the weakest seed because of how unfamiliar we all are to them hosting, I truly don't know what their season has looked like but they have a historical power Arizona St team that hasn't had a bad year in a really good conference and a Pepperdine program that isn't unfamiliar with baseball success.

If you are good enough to get to Omaha and compete in Omaha then why does it matter who you have to play to get there?

Match-ups. Every sport is about match-ups. Undoubtedly there are teams that could and would beat every team they faced 9/10 times, but a lot of times team A just doesn't match up well with team B but would clobber team C who would beat team B.

Florida's, Rice, Cal Poly and UVA and Ole Miss got the tough regionals IMO.

I was surprised when the committee chair said it came down to LSU, Rice and Vandy for the last national seed.

I figured Ole Miss was surely in the discussion.

Question for both the dawgs and black bears: if it comes down to both teams playing each other to get to Omaha, would this be bigger than the Egg Bowl football game?

Other than state bragging rights and a boost for in state recruiting, there is usually nothing on the line with the Egg Bowl. A shot to get to Omaha between hated rivals would be pretty intense. It will be hard for both to make it happen though. Ole Miss has looked great at times this year, but then the Bad News Black Bears get off the bus. With three top 25 ranked teams coming in for a regional, it will be tough. One thing for sure, ULL will see arms from State they haven't faced all year.
