I think OU recruits pretty well and TX is OK but the allure of coming to the SEC might help them. I think TX could have an effect on A&M/LSU but both recruit at an extremely high level right now.
The downfall of OU/TX is that they will actually have to play an SEC schedule so that could hinder them.
Thoughts?

Arkansas under SP is doing well in tx and making up for the crap that started under BP, BB and others for almost a decade.

With expanded playoffs this doesn't really have as much of an effect as it would with a 4 team CFP.

LSU. They have to supplement in TX.

It won't hurt Kentucky because we don't get many out of Texas. In fact it could help us. The Big-12 may turn into a minor league and there are tons of players in Texas so the guys TCU, Baylor, Tech are recruiting may look to other SEC schools.

I looked up the 2019 roster to see how many Texas guys were on it.

Was surprised it was only about 17% Texas guys.

LSU averages 2 recruits per year in Texas under O, around 5 from GA/FL, 3 from MS/AL, and the rest are usually Louisiana recruits or big national recruits the staff takes a swing at. Also, many of the Texas recruits they take have Louisiana ties (garrett nussmeier is from Louisiana but lived in Texas). If OU and Texas take more Texas recruits it will affect A&M the most, the effect on LSU would be marginal

The way I see it is if Texas turns from a Big 12 state to an SEC state you will have more kids growing up SEC fans so the attraction to the SEC increases. That could benefit or hurt OU/TX as they could potentially get a stronger push from other SEC schools. LSU usually gets 2-3 Texas kids, but has also expanded outside the south the last few years and Texas isn't as crucial as it used to be.

Yep, and I would expect that number to be even lower now although they are still pulling top 5 classes

Honestly LSU is going to be affected much more than they realize.

Aggie keeps saying this but the numbers just don't support that argument.

It will help us some. OU and Texas both bring top 10 classes annually and can hit top 5.

OU has lost recruits simply for not being in the SEC. We're talking defensive recruits obviously but that is what OU needs and it has been the reason too many times to count that they didnt land some of these kids. I mean the recruits just told us straight up that's why they went to lesser a school in the SEC. (Im talking about good 4 stars that went to arky or Tennessee not Bama, LSU's and Georgia's defensive 5 stars)

I mean hell atm's only recruiting pitch for 10 yrs has been that they're in the SEC. They haven't even won their division yet.

So yeah we'll get a bump and SEC teams will have 2 new schools to battle it out with that have a really good recruiting mechanism in place. This isnt Missouri or ATM joining again. May the best man win.

The 2021 roster I just looked up had about 95 players on it and only 7 were Texas guys and one is the kicker, Cade York.

It could hurt A&M a ton. SEC affiliation was the biggest sell it employed in recruiting vs Texas

There are 29 or more million people that live in Texas. I’m sure there are plenty of good recruits to go around. In my opinion it helps anyone in the SEC and probably hurts teams like Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, etc.

Here is the deal with recruiting Texas high school players. There are so many players to recruit it takes coaches with a keen eye for talent to determine which one will develop into even better players. Texas high school coaches are very good at getting every ounce of talent out of a player. You want the good players that develop into even better players on the collegiate field. I travel all over Texas on business and they don’t mess around on dumping money into facilities and superior coaching.

So it’s not the fact y’all have slacked off in recruiting ? All has to do is A&M being in the sec?

At least you recognize why A&M tried to stop Texass from joining. It’s only prudent to protect any advantages you have.

The very reason why Texass was so opposed to scholarship limits in the 70s. Clear advantage. No one willingly gives them up.

I think it helps recruiting for all SEC teams except Alabama & LSU.. and that is a maybe.

Alabama, LSU & Ohio State “could” face a little tougher time against Texas and OU than you have faced for 5+ years.

Tech, TCU, Baylor & Ok State will get hurt by this, which should push some more guys to Arkansas, Ole Miss, etc.

You could make the argument that OU could be hurt by this move.. they already get a lot of good players from Texas.
