You're thinking old school.

With NIL, it's going to be a whole different ballgame. Think highest bidder!

So it’s not the fact y’all have slacked off in recruiting ? All has to do is A&M being in the sec?

combination of poor coaching and the perception that we played in a 2nd tier league.

It could hurt A&M a ton. SEC affiliation was the biggest sell it employed in recruiting vs Texas

Yeah, I think it hurts A&M the most. Any SEC school like LSU now though has to really fight harder for the toss up Texas guys. Still though, some kids just want to get away. We get mad at LA recruits leaving the state, but not everyone wants to spend another 4 years where they grew up

At least you recognize why A&M tried to stop Texass from joining. It’s only prudent to protect any advantages you have.

The very reason why Texass was so opposed to scholarship limits in the 70s. Clear advantage. No one willingly gives them up.

oh yeah, no doubt this is a big loss for A&M. They should have been fighting it behind the scenes but they should not have whined in public like they did which made them look weaker. The public stance should have been “bring it on”

that’s an underrated point. Should also open up other SEC states to Texas more in recruiting.

LSU. They have to supplement in TX.

This is myth based on no real data. All LSU has to do is keep the in-state recruits in Louisiana. Alabama regularly has more Louisiana players on its roster than LSU has Texas players.
