OU sucks a tale of dumbassery

We all know about how Venables ran Dillon Gabriel out to make room for Jackson Arnold who now is the UNLV QB meanwhile Oregon went 13-0 in the regular season with their castaway Gabriel.
Well let's not forget Jackson Arnold gave way to Michael Hawkins Jr but instead of riding with the new guy they went and got Mateer and Fatty Arbuckle to transfer in.
Go look at Michael Hawkins Jr's stats so far at West Virginia he leads the nation in QBR so far and the dipshidiot Sooners gave Venables a contract extension. How dumb can you be?

I dont want to go back to having the 108th ranked defense like we had under LR and playing lots of 55-52 games. No thanks. I dont care if Venables has to go through 6 or 7 OCs until he gets it right.

It is clear Arbuckle is not ready for prime time. He averaged 7.9 yds a run in first down then threw 71% of the time on second down against Mich. Mich secondary was by far their best part of their defense. Obviously we lost. Mich is an average team with a great secondary and a mobil big QB

OU fans bought into this narrative all week long before the UNM game and then the RBs averaged less than 2 yards a game against UNM.
In reality... that Michigan stat was deceptive. In the first half against Michigan OU had runs of 8,7,6, 6 and 11 yards with one 2 yard run and two -1 yard runs...(8 rushes total)
However in the second half... OU had seven first down rushes... The best carry went for four yards. I did not include the last gasp 22 yard Mateer scramble on the final drive... because that was supposed to be a pass play.
In short, Michigan shut the running game down in the second half even though we managed to score twice.

first sentence of your rant and you are dead wrong he wasn’t ran off, Dillion has even said that. Michael Hawkins is a good running qb but he’s not a sec level qb. His stats would be a lot different playing some team with a pulse .
The most hilarious thing about your take is … OU made the playoffs … Sark should have let arch go last year he might have been able to make the playoffs …. pretty much. what you are saying .

OU is not finally healthy … don’t know where you heard that at . Missing our starting safety, 3rd lb, All american and Best Dt in sec .Our best OL LT Fasusi…Not to mention 2 other OL are playing hurt . That’s if Kip Lewis is coming back this week.

People forget, Hawkins almost killed an OU WR last year. We had to redo our stadium because of it. He led a receiver to the brick wall.
Hawkins was not that good in this system. Had he stayed we are not any better. The OU OC is competely different than the WVU OC. He fits perfectly at WVU and I wish him great success. He’s a good kid and a legacy Sooner. He knew this system wasn’t the right fit and went to one he fits perfectly. He knew had he stayed Mateer was the QB because of the system Arbuckle ran plus Mateer having played for him.
Thats just common sense. He would have had to wait until at least next year to get a chance and felt his skills were good enough to start now. And he’s thriving at WVU but he would not have thrived at OU. WVU schedule is way less hard than OU as well.
Just because Mateer sucks doesn’t mean Hawkins would eat.
And to a bigger point, good or bad its why OC’s aren’t fired as fast as fans want. They build a system which also includes future commits. If OC’s get fired too soon then a few classes key commits can bolt. Add in portal and it can set a team back.
It’s why coaches give OC’s time because otherwise its starting over. The OLine you recruit. The skill positions. Recruited to work in a system. Arbuckle sucks but my guess is Brent will keep him at least thru Tx game and see where we are.
Anyways, wishing Hawkins luck and he is a perfect fit for the system he is in.

Funny thing about NIL, OU signed a very, very good class (on paper) in BV's first year when they came off a 6-7 season. OU was throwing money around like crazy and they bought several players that they really had no business getting, given their losing record. A bunch of those guys in the 2023 class have either been busts or underperformed.
