Actually... of their common opponents...

Vanderbilt and Oklahoma beat the exact same teams and lost to the exact same teams.

They both beat Alabama and Auburn. And they both lost to Missouri, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and LSU.

Already disproved this. You played 4 ranked SEC teams (SC/LSU/Bama/MSU). No readon to check your other years since its bad data.

Nope. 6 of the SEC teams we played are ranked in the current AP poll.

Heck, if I used your method then the other 2 teams we played were ranked at the time we played (Mizzou/Aub) which would make it all 8 teams we faced were ranked. But I’m not trying to pad stats like some here are. I’m using the AP poll (standard bearer of polls).

I would argue our offense beat ourselves. Bottom line is we sucked. But we’ll be back next year and with a better offense plus a great D. Trust me it will make a difference having some semblance of offense and not being one dimensional. Opposing DC’s should have only gotten half pay when they played our O, it was so easy to stop.

Texas goes 10-2 vs OU's schedule imo..

5-0 OOC + Oklahoma

vs Alabama
vs Tennessee
vs South Carolina

@ Ole Miss
@ LSU
@ Missouri
@ Auburn

That looks like 5-2 or 6-1 to me.. so 10-2 or 11-1.

Again you are comparing end of year rankings to season in progress ratings. A lot could happen to your rankings after playoffs and bowl games are taken into consideration.

Posters in this very thread said that was a typical normal SEC schedule. I challenged them to find me one team who played 6 ranked SEC teams, not at the time rankings.

You are really, really upset.

You had a MSU guy post you two times they'd played 6/7 top 30 teams.

You had an Ole Miss poster list all the top 25/30 games they played each year for a decade which was littered with 4 or 5 top 25 in conference games.....so pretty typical.

Now, we've added 2 more powerhouse programs and you are saying it isn't right or fair to Oklahoma because reasons. Look man, we have played similar schedules in conference to what Oklahoma faced this year. Is it EXACTLY the same, no it isn't.

I said it is normal to play 4-6 top 30 teams in conference per year and you melted.....when Ole Miss has played 4 or 5 in conference top 25 teams more often than not over the past 20 years.

Just accept you got a tough draw and that you can expect to face a tougher schedule than you had been used to going forward.

UGA got a tough draw, UF got a tough draw, MSU got a tough draw.....Oklahoma got a tough draw.

It's what you signed up for in the SEC. You are in the best conference with the best programs, even the "bad" teams are better than the "middle" of the other conferences. You can lose any weekend.

It's tough out here.

Lol wrong. Its the SEC chanters who are upset someone has the gal to challenge them to facts. There is nothing to be upset about we OU fans knew after 4 games we were toast. We saw signs in first 3 games bit won so it was glossed over. But we had big problems with injuries and a raw freshman qb without an oline (lost a lot of oline to draft or portal). After Tenn we knew it would be a long year with our schedule.

All I did was post that besides our suckage, we played the hardest SEC schedule in SEC history. Thats not complaining its just facts. And its the new norm for everyone. 2 blue bloods came to the strongest conference, those added games make everyones schedule tougher. We made it easy for opponents to win but that win’t always be the case.

Whats funny is how many posters from teams that have won nothing trying to say this schedule was typical, when it was not. I proved all comers wrong and thats all it is. No upset there, if anyone is upset its all the posters trying their very hardest to make up fake stats lol. They get upset because I showed them wrong.

I’m happy as can be. Hate our season but can see past this year. Take practically every offensive starter off of any SEC team and handicap them with a horrible OC and a freshman qb and tell me how great they’d do vs the 2024 SEC schedule. Meaning, its a fluke year and can’t be upset about injuries where there is no control.

If we had all O healthy and lost those same 6 games then I’d be upset at coaching. Nothing you can do with injuries and down to your 7th string WR is now your number 1 WR. We got great experience and film. Once we hire an OC (today or Tue) we’ll lose some players to portal but then the offense will start the mend. And next year we’ll play games equally staffed. Doesn’t mean we’ll win em, but I’ll bet we win way more than this year.

Sometimes you have to fail to succeed. We failed this year and as I showed in the D and O rates in another post, we can’t do any worse. Our DC is just finishing year one and will only get better with some complimentary O.

I’m actually excited about next year. Getting to 6-6 with our schedule and situation was about as good as you can do. Enjoy it for now we won’t be down for long

You are confusing 2 things.

Yes, your schedule may have been the toughest in SEC history. Nobody else had Texas in conference so it's getting more difficult than the past.

You will also be facing roughly similar schedules in the future though is what you seem to be missing. UGA faced a similar schedule and they are having a very good year.

It's tough. You are saying Oklahoma will get better and honestly I believe that as well. I expect Oklahoma to try very hard to be among the contenders in the SEC. Just don't expect your schedule to become much easier is all I'm telling you.

And, you are melting hard my man. Long posts, whining.....

The conference office crapped on you, I get it. Tough way to start.

Nah…OU has been destroyed by injuries this year as well as losing their starting QB from last year.

Injuries pile up when you're playing better teams and a more difficult schedule. You tend to avoid those kinds of injuries piling up when you play a Charmin soft schedule like Texas had this season. Their SEC opener was Tennessee. Yours was *checks notes* last place Miss State.

So, Texas would have had to deal with that injury bug biting a bit harder with more than a two-game schedule just like OU did. You played OU when they had CB's playing WR. You played Florida with their 3rd string walk-on QB and missing a ton on defense.

This! OU will no longer play Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, OSU, Kansas, Kansas State every week. None of those schools consistently have top 15-20 recruiting classes like Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida.

Who should they have played then (in the SEC)? Nobody knew South Carolina was going to be a top 15 team. Auburn and LSU are down, Mizzou is meh. Would you rather they have played Florida, Vandy, and A&M, rather than Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mizzou?

A more even split in the Texas and OU schedules would have been nice. All but two of Oklahoma's conf opponents are ranked in the final poll. Texas only played two all year.

Final conference standings, and which expansion team they played:
1. Texas - OU
2. UGA - Texas
3. Tennessee - OU
4. Bama - OU
5. Ole Miss - OU
6. South Carolina - OU
7. Mizzou - OU
8. aTm - Texas
9. LSU - OU
10. Florida - Texas
11. Arkansas - Texas
12. Vandy - Texas
13. Oklahoma - Texas
14. Auburn - OU
15. Kentucky - Texas
16. Miss State - Texas

Texas basically played the entire bottom half of the conference while OU played the top half. Swap a couple of those games, and maybe OU goes 4-4 while Texas goes 5-3 instead of cake walking into Atlanta.

I can’t argue that at all. Texas should have played Tennessee at least. Rather than MSU or Kentucky.
