Amid the talk of 8 or 9 conference game schedules I saw a point that (I think) hasn't been discussed in too much depth.
I want to keep 8 conf games but add at least one decent OOC game.
Alot of teams play the same OOC annualy:
UGA/GTech UF/FSU SCar/Clem UK/UL Vandy/Wake Forest

Others schedule different ones yearly:
LSU/TCU Bama/VTech OleMiss/Texas Miss St/OkSt Ark/Rutgers Tenn/Oregon

Auburn scheduled K-state next year but nothing this year.
Mizzou sucks
And of course, TAMU has nothing until like 2018 with Oregon.
and why do only the east teams seem to have the same annual OOC games?

tldr; What OOC team would you schedule for your school to play annually to increase strength of schedule?

As an A&M fan torn about the whole Texas rivalry dying, I would only want to play them when Dodds leaves. Until then, any Texas team or maybe someone on the west coast where we recruit kids.

Arizona or Arizona State.

Mid-tier, major conference team that should be beatable. Would be a great road trip with excellent golf, and would improve our exposure for recruiting on the West Coast (obviously just landed the #1 QB recruit in the country for 2014 in Kyle Allen out of Scottsdale, AZ.)

Would also like to get Texas back on the schedule.

Schedule would ideally be:
A&M vs. Rice/SMU - Lower tier team in Texas as season opener; Always played in College Station
A&M vs. ASU/UA - Home and home (alternates on home schedule with Texas game)
A&M vs. Texas - Home and home

I would even be in favor of rotating Arizona or Arizona State....so it doesn't get old.

Arizona at home
Arizona on road
ASU at home
Arizona on road

I'm sure both AZ schools would love exposure in Texas.

To those of you already playing a good OOC opponent, for example SCar/Clemson, would you add UNC to your schedule or trade Clemson for UNC?

Coolest fans ever outside of the Nittany Lions. Knowledgable fans. Enjoyed our 2 games with them more than anybody outside of the Penn State game in the 80's. Great fans, Best and coolest fanbase I've been around. Everybody ate and drank together, no nastiness. Just good people and a good time. Would love have them in the SEC. All the OU fans agreed when we talked that we need to do this every year.

I wouldn't want a permanent OOC opponent. But I want a BCS conference OOC opponent every year.

One of the teams I wanted for a long time on the schedule was Wisconsin. Mainly because I want to go to Madison. Well, I got half of that.

I would like to see Ucla, OK St, Stanford, Rutgers, K-State, and BYU on LSU's schedule at some point, for various reasons.

DRE, I really like your idea with the lower, mid and "upper" tier teams. Seems like a great way to diversify and looks good.

I also have enjoyed my times playing OU, even getting killed in Norman I had a good time. the Cotton Bowl was just more fun this year obviously.

This makes sense too, as long as you can continuously schedule decent and interesting teams i don't see why not.
I was just assuming it would be easier logistically to do an annual rivalry type game.

For Alabama, I would welcome USCwest.

Two very different schools. City/rural. West coast/deep south.
Private/public.

But very similar football programs.

I really enjoyed our home and home with both Washington and West Virginia. Oregon would be a good one, too after our battle. I could see that turning into a big rivalry.

Don't have one. I'd like to play UGA, UF, UT, Bama and LSU every year. After that, schedule whoever.
