These types of games are exactly why, as a UGA fan, I hate it when UGA plays Georgia Southern. There is no upside for UGA, when the inevitably win the game everyone simply knew it was going to happen. Should they somehow lose to the Eagles it'd be a massive upset in the state. Most GSU fans I ever knew, and there are a lot of them, are also UGA fans...I don't know where their allegiance lies when the 2 play one another but it isn't like UGA needs more exposure to college football fans in Georgia...there just ain't no upside to it.
GT is similar except GT is generally considered a legit opponent...GSU is still somewhat considered a lesser opponent despite now being on the same "level" as UGA and GT. I don't see the point of paying a school to lose to you who is often recruiting the same players...not that UGA loses many recruits to GSU but it has happened, especially marginal SEC players who, at times, prove to be extremely serviceable after a year or so of conditioning and coaching at UGA....just ain't a great upside to playing a "lesser" in state opponent.

No Muschamp loss is a huge upset.
Did you know that Georgia Southern didn't complete a single pass in that game? One year later, Muschamp lost a game to Missouri after only allowing their offense 119 yards, yet they scored 42 points on Florida.

In 1993, Auburn upset #4 Florida in a thrilling 38-35 game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Terry Bowden's first year at AU. Got the best of the old ball coach that day.

That was Johnny Majors first game back after his heart surgery. He came back too soon. With Johnny recuperating, Tennessee (led by OC Phil Fulmer) beat #14 Georgia at Athens, #4 Florida in Knoxville and shut out LSU in Baton Rouge to be 3-0 in SEC play. Johnny comes back and they lose 3 straight to Arkansas, Bama and South Carolina.
Majors wins the next 3 with the final game squeaking out a win at Vandy. The day after the Vandy game, UT buys out his contract and promotes Fulmer.

Memphis KO returner was down. Not reviewable back then.

Weirdly enough, despite 2 Gators blocking each other (quite effectively), the RB scored a TD on that play. Must have confused the GS defense.

BTW, that’s a travel ball name if I’ve ever heard of one. “Brodie”
I had a Dalmatian named that.

But the UT fans were such assholes that when the goal posts came down, the Memphis students took a long piece to the UT crowd and threw it at them. It was glorious.
This is bullshite.

How about 2007's Kentucky over #1 LSU in 3OT and Arkansas over #1 LSU also in 3OT? Easy to forget since LSU still won the BCS title.

Same thing A&M was doing when they played a road game at USL (ULL) and it backfired bigly

Refs allowed him a 95 yard TD kickoff return when he was tackled after less than a 30 yard return. He was on his butt around the 32 yard line, but they let him get up and run it all the way back. I know it's said we always blame the refs, but this is one case where the video shows Memphis was given 60+ yards for no reason.

Randall Watters kinda reminded me of Reggie Bush on that punt return.
Thanks for sharing.

Difference is that UT team was 6-0 and top 10 and that UF team was 4-6

Nobody remembers Maine beating miss st? Maine isn’t even good by fcs standards. They’ve only been to 8 fcs playoffs all time.
