Now we just need to get Krispy Kreme and Milo's rebuilt
Sadly, Milo's isnt coming back. I heard from someone that knew the owner and they said that they werent doing well enough to rebuild. Milos is my favorite fast food place and now I can only get it when I have to go to Hoover or Birmingham.

If I had to guess the red tape is slowing whatever they are going to do down.
Yeah, they are slowing down a lot of things and have made it to where a lot of people can't even rebuild their homes. On top of that, hardly any of the construction and cleanup going on is not even getting thrown at local business and contractors.

that place looks great...how's the food?
A lot of ppl like it but given the choice I'd go to Dreamland or Archibald's. I could go without eating there again. But my brother and his family really like it.

Oh man, I hate to hear that. I don't eat fast food often but I've always loved me some Milo's burger and fries. Then throw in sweet tea and an apple pie - pure heaven

If that's the case then they need to put in my damn whataburger. That's one thing Tuscaloosa needs because of the 24hrs of awesomeness. I know it's not local food but its one of the best fast food joints IMO.

Ideally it would be nice to get the rebuilding done quickly. However, its most important to me that the rebuild is done right. I just hope that the city government is really thinking this one through.

The city is thinking it through but they don't even know what they are doing. The rules and regulations are confusing or outrageous. There are many people that aren't going to be able to rebuild homes that were there for years and there are businesses that aren't going to be able to rebuild. The city had a great idea, but really screwed the pooch on this one.

Hard to believe that business wasn't good enough. Seemed like it was always busy.

I heard that Whataburger was trying to buy McDonalds property on 15th and was willing to throw down any number but McDonalds wouldnt sell. Whataburger has shown interest in building one in T Town but the problem is there is no good place to put one. They want to be close to campus because they know they would do well but there isnt any available property close to campus.

I like some Full Moon BBQ. Glad to see they're opening up.
As far as Dreamland, I thought they were ok, but there's better. Mike and Ed's in Auburn is pretty good.

There's really no excuse for that. I'm fortunate that Clay tries to use local before they go outside looking for businesses to handle city business.

I love me some mike and ed's
as for milo's, are they franchised or all self owned? They probably make more with their tea sales in the groceries

There used to be a Mike and Ed's in T Town and I really enjoyed that place. If I needed a good, quick BBQ fix I always went there.
As for Milo's, I think most of them are self owned.

Although better when a good lookin gal is wearing them, they had a stroke of brilliance with their marketing when they came up with these shirts as part of their work attire.

The Mike and Eds in ttown was ok. Nothing comes close to Archibalds.

It may not be a popular sentiment but I'd rather the city go slow on redeveloping the area rather than throwing up really unimaginitive development that was there before. The owners of all that property need to be fairly compensated and hopefully the city can buy most of the land and fully implement the Tuscaloosa Forward plan.

I completely disagree. The city knows exactly what they are doing and that it has a chance to rebuild bigger and better than before. Not many cities get the chance to completely rebuild the center of town exactly how they want it. Of course this will take a little longer. They are being selective on what business's they are allowing back in the area and also on building codes so that 15th don't end up the same way it was. There are plans for a Midtown type development on the sight of the former Wood Square shopping center and other areas around there as well. I am also hearing some retail developments that will bring new retailers to Tuscaloosa that haven't been in the city before or even in the state for that matter. I envision the McFarland Blvd and 15th Street intersection in the next 3-5 years as something completely different and A LOT better than what it was before the tornado.

Hate to hear they aren't coming back, but that makes sense. I went by at lunch a few times and it was pretty empty.
Glad to see Full Moon up and running. I used to go there a lot.
