Let’s see. Georgia laid 50 on this “very good “ LSU team. FSU made this “very good “ LSU team look like clowns. You have a strange definition of “very good”

All anybody has to go on are the preseason rankings right now. Weekly polls aren't meant to predict the losing team's record 3 months from now. For the record I think 4th or 5th is about right for FSU and I definitely don't agree with being #1, but just saying the losing team sucks and didn't deserve their ranking so the game doesn't mean anything makes no sense

Why does it matter
You ask sports media to vote
Let them vote how they want

It's a weekly poll. Who had a better W than FSU?

ETA they aren't supposed to project the future. Most do though.

*sigh*

I’ll say it again for you…some ppl don’t give a shite what happened last year or the year before. They vote based off of what your team has done THIS year

You can make an argument that FSU has the most impressive win thus far, therefore should be #1. I guess I didn’t realize how upsetting that statement would be for you

It’s just not a good argument this early in the season. No one has a clue how good that win truly is yet.

These polls aren't (or at least never have been really, especially in week 1) a power poll. UGA is the back to back defending national champion taht began the year #1 and won by 41. There's no way you drop them just because FSU looked good.

I think they would be far more informative if they did wildly shift week to week (at least early in the season) as teams get quality wins and we learn more about all the teams.

UGA lost a multi year starter at QB and the best OC in the country in addition to a ton of other guys who got drafted. Why should they just be assumed number 1 this year even if they have a good chance of being number 1 when it matters at the end?

It’s as good of an argument as any other right now, which is why there’s not really a wrong answer honestly

Like many have said it’s just a week 2 poll. You could make an argument for putting just about any of the top 6 at #1 right now at this point in the season and nobody should get all that bothered by it

Forgive me because I wasn't talking about last years national champion or the year before's.
I probably wasn't clear.

The best team in the country includes the one who gets better week to week the best.

Look at 2010 Auburn and 2019 LSU as great examples. I'm sure Bama has a year where the optimism after week 2 or 4 was completely different than the optimism in November. Because great coaches and talent improve.

I think it's Auburn, but whatever.

Well my general point was the past is irrelevant in this, but who were you were talking about then? 2010 Auburn? 2019 LSU?

2010 Auburn beat a G5 school by 26 in its opener.
2019 LSU beat a G5 school 55-3 in its opener.

Both of these are more impressive than needing every second of the first half to score 17pts against an FCS team imo. Feel free to disagree

Wtf are you talking about? He has one week of data to vote off of, not 7+

The dude voted based on what he saw happen in week 1. I can see his logic and don’t think it’s unreasonable at all

You’re welcome to your own opinion as is everyone in here, but are you arguing that what you saw out of UGA last Sat (beating an FCS opponent at home) is more impressive than beating an SEC team by 3 TDs on a neutral site?

Let’s be serious. Right now FSU has the best win. Can things change next week? Sure. That’s the idea. Vote based on all the data and each week you get more.

It’s going to be ok lol

In his defense, FSU looks great and has the best win of the season thus far.

There's nothing wrong with having FSU #1 right now. People put way too much stock in preseason polls anyways.
