On3: Alabama’s crisis management in Brandon Miller situation ‘an outright fail’

From Oats’ initial remarks (for which he later apologized) to Miller being patted down during Saturday’s pregame introductions before a win over Arkansas, Alabama’s errors have been self-inflicted. When asked to grade Alabama’s public relations response the past two weeks, Erik Bernstein, the president of Bernstein Crisis Management who has worked with high-profile athletes, told On3 bluntly: “It’s got to just be an outright fail.”

But in Tuscaloosa, when the crisis hit, Oats and Co. grabbed a shovel and kept digging.

Speaking of crisis management, has anyone checked on Pearl since the big meltdown Wednesday night? The guy was close to swallowing his tongue and ending it all.

He'll be fine... he has three 5-stars and several top 4-stars coming in, in the next two years...

Talent hasn't been his problem.

I don’t think these exist in basketball.

This year’s Auburn team is the least talented team in years… but let’s stay focused and discuss Bama’s PR nightmare!

The only time I'm sure this team played to their potential is when they were preparing for their "Super Bowl." That would be ALABAMA.

That abortion of an effort you put on in Lexington a few days before should make my point for me.

How do you let your team blow a 17 point lead with 10 minutes left while shooting 80% from 3?

How many starters did Auburn still have on the floor at the end?

There’s your answer.

When your gameplan is to play a physical game on the road your goons are going to foul out.

Goon-ball. Thug it up and then have your bipolar coach screaming about getting "smashed." Priceless.

There was only one thug team on the court Wednesday and that was the team who got players ejected

Probably, but he signed 2 Top 40 players this year (1 of which was a 5-star) and they don't even play led alone contribute positively.

Yohan Traore (5-star, #24 overall)
2.4 PPG
1.5 RPG
10.4 minutes per game

Chance Westry (4-star, #39 overall)
2.5 PPG
0.7 RPG
9.3 minutes per game

Westry had knee surgery and is still recovering. Yohan needs more development for sure. Both don’t compare to recent signee PG Aden Holloway (5-star McDonalds All American)…

Holloway will be a good player but Auburn needs some more consistent shooters around him, especially with Jaylin Williams graduating (I guess he might use a COVID year, that would be a big get).
