He says Bruce was seriously concerned with the pandemic, FBI fallout (Chuck Persons), self-imposing severe NCAA sanctions while other teams were buying players pre-NIL. Other teams were building solid foundations while Bruce had to juggle the NCAA.

We couldn't recruit for quite some time (maybe 1 year or so) and then add covid - so overall, maybe 2-2.5 years without active recruiting trips. We were also slow with NIL adjustments (because of the ongoing NCAA investigation). Recruiting is much improved now...

lol. Your strategy is to try and physically beat up the superior team and then get mad when you get into foul trouble

And they employ that strategy with a team with inadequate depth.

But it did almost work, so Pearl and his staff do get some credit.

My friend's been blaming it on Covid. He said everything was ticking along for Bruce and AU was clicking before covid hit. Then the covid season caused the bluebloods Duke/Kentucky and AU to not care
enough to even try to make the tournament.

I wouldn't blame covid too much. I think covid is a major reason why we landed Jabari and Kessler. Jabari couldn't go on recruiting trips to other schools but he was already familiar with Auburn. Kessler wanted to come home due to bad experiences with covid at UNC. I think his brother is also an AU student and his family owns a lake house nearby. (You can even include Suni Lee. She would have turned pro in 2020 and maybe not even won the AA gold medal in 2020 but still team gold and a few other individual medals. It was still the pre-NIL era so she would not have joined Auburn for the 2020-21 season and likely turned pro). So covid actually helped Auburn here but hurt us in football...

You guys should be worried about recruiting... Bama only landed Miller because he is a legacy player (and this also attracted Bradley). Other than that, Bama's future basketball recruiting is subpar...

Bradley committed on September 30th, 2021. Miller committed on November 1, 2021.

The #53 player in last year's class is shooting 43% from 3PT and averaging 6 PPG in 15 minutes. He basically won the game in Auburn down the stretch.

The #79 player in last year's recruiting class is going to be a 1st round pick in a few months if he decides to leave early. If he comes back he'll be a preseason All-SEC and possibly All-American as a sophomore.

We're not real concerned with our staff's ability to identify players and develop them. Walters and Dioubate are perfect fits for what we do. We are in the lead or heavily in the mix for Sherrill, Freeman and Pate in the next class, all of which are also perfect fits.

There was only one thug team on the court Wednesday and that was the team who got players ejected

We call them the "smash" brothers. They took a step over the half-court line. Oh, the humanity!

Griffin did run all the way down to the baseline, but was pulling Bama players back towards mid court. His ejection was deserved, but he was far from a “thug” in the situation.

With Bruce, you get thugs and the WWE, just not heart.

At least none of our players MURDERED somebody with another player's gun. You might want to chill on calling any other team in the conference "thugs"

Congrats on landing Kris Parker today. Highly rated 3-star recruit (247) with offers from UCF and Mizzou…

And Villanova, yea.

He's long, athletic and has a good shot. We tend to do pretty well with those guys. He's being compared to Keon Ellis, another 3-star we signed who ended up having a nice career and is having a great year in the G-League while getting pulled up to the NBA multiple times.

The only time I'm sure this team played to their potential is when they were preparing for their "Super Bowl." That would be ALABAMA.

I'm not sure what Auburn's potential is, but they sure played well vs. Mizzou.

Bruce and his henchmen play like "thugs." What they can't do with talent, they compensate with thuggery. It's all on video.

This year’s Auburn team is the least talented team in years… but let’s stay focused and discuss Bama’s PR nightmare!

Let's stay focused on Pearls record v Oats why don't we? Lol....

Just because Miller isn’t being charged with a crime, that doesn’t mean he’s blameless. The coach seems to have a problem differentiating legal liability from basic virtue. …

Exactly what so many people were trying to get the Bama fans on this board to acknowledge.

The guy that pulled the trigger wasn’t on the team, and wasn’t even a Bama student.

He'll be fine... he has three 5-stars and several top 4-stars coming in, in the next two years...

He had 2 first round draft picks last year.

How'd that work out?

It was truly heartwarming to watch and listen to Cajun fans repeating their loyalty to Will Wade right up to the bitter end. Now when I look up the word "Virtue" in the Dictionary, all I see are LSU fans and Will Wade.

I'm enjoying how this whole thread just turned into shitting on Auburn and laughing at Pearl's inferiority to Oates.
