Greatest player ever in the SEC is either Herschel or Bo. Tebow is a somewhat distant third. Cam was too busy throwing computers out of windows.

Greatest college player of all time...you could name a lot of people but Herschel and Bo have to be in the conversation.

You're kidding, right? Their 1980 OOC schedule:
A&M, Climpson, TCU, SCar, Tech

A&M 4-7

Clemson 6-5

TCU 1-10

South Carolina 8-4

Ga. Tech 1-9-1

That does look brutal to me.

Proving my point. He was very durable. He only had two (2) 1,000 yard rushing seasons. He is not in the NFL hall of fame.

Why?

Because he is a very strong and durable donkey that everybody would love to have on their farm. You can work him for days with no water.

But he is not a beautiful race horse.

I would argue those 1-win TCU and Tech teams were still better than the FCS tomato cans today's schedules are filled with.

Georgia played a trash schedule during his time there. I found this gem from the 1981 schedule:

#carries - yards
30-161 vs. Tenn. (8-4)
35-167 vs. Cal (2-9)
28-111 vs. Clemson (12-0) *uga loss
36-176 vs. South Carolina (6-6)
41-265 vs. Ole Miss (4-6-1)
39-188 vs. Vandy (4-7)
33-129 vs. UK (3-8)
23-112 vs. Temple (5-5)
47-192 vs. UF (7-5)
37-165 vs. Auburn (5-6)
36-225 at Ga. Tech (1-10)

BTW, in the 1980, 1981, and 1982 UGA regular seasons, in 33 regular season games, only 10 of those games were played against opponents with winning (defined as merely over .500) records, i.e. 70% of UGA's regular season games during those Herschel years were played against teams with losing records, i.e. bad teams. (For comparison, during those same years Auburn played 19 teams with winning records in 33 games, Bama 17, UF 16, LSU 14, Tennessee 13.)

Walker was a durable workhorse running back. But he was not elite. The NFL proved that to be a fact.

Here are the SEC all-time rushing stats that include only SEC running backs with at least 300 career carries.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/rushing.html

Going into the table above, it is keyed on yards per attempt/carry.

Keep scrolling down on this list, you'll find Herschel...

No... keep going.

No, farther than that.

THERE he is... for SEC running backs with more than 300 career rushing attempts, Herschel Walker proudly sits at 78th in the SEC in yards per carry.

Now click on the "attempts" column and, boom, Herschel screams to the top of the list even after all these years.

Being strong and getting the ball every play isn't a display of running back "skill"... especially when it produces 5.3 yards per carry which is flat out pedestrian for any supposed "top" SEC running back.

"Durable workhorse" and "not elite" pretty much sums up Herschel Walker.

Depends on which personality of Hershel we are talking about, he only has 1,000 of them.

Bo knows best. You played yourself on this thread.

coaches poll

ESPN's coaches poll, and pretty much every other list you can find out there all agree that Walker is the best. But like I said, all the mad little Auburn fans will keep spouting BS.

You are right everything ESPN says is golden

Bo even had a better NFL career than Herschel. Anyone with a brain can see that.

If you wanna know the truth, it’s Bo Jackson by 10 miles.

Herschel had 5,259 rushing yards on 994 carries...5.3 yards per. He had 49 TDS rushing and 3 TDs receiving. And did it in 3 seasons.

Bo had 4,303 yards on 650 carries...6.6 yards per. He had 43 rushing TDs and 2 TDs receiving. And he did that in 4 years.

Herschel had nearly 1,000 more yards in one less year, never missed a game, hardly ever took himself out of a game, and made his team better.

Herschel, and it ain't close.

A 4-year NFL career is better than 12 years in the NFL and 3 in the USFL? Only in Aubie-land.

Topic is CFB Player. Every objective ranking there is has Herschel at the top. Aubies might not like it, but y’all probably didn’t like getting your shite kicked in in the 2017 SECCG either. Doesn’t change the facts though.

Dont know what you're laughing at. The date is irrelevant as these are not recent players, and if you actually read what I posted it's a poll of coaches, not ESPN.

Since it's so laughable please find me a list where coaches rank Bo ahead of Herschel. I'll wait.

And lol about the NFL. Nice troll.

So what you're saying here is that it took Herschel 344 more carries than Bo to get that extra 956 yards and 6 rushing TDs?

344 carries... 956 yards... 6 TDs

That is what you're saying, right?

I wonder what Herschel's ypc and rushes per TD would work out to in those 344 extra carries?

Not even in the argument IMHO. Had Derrick Henry been given the rock like Herschel Walker was given it for 3-4 years, his numbers would have looked very similar.

Barry Sanders is the best running back to ever play the college game.

Every Georgia fans baffles me. Congrats you won the SEC, but we spanked that arse during the regular season. Not to mention, you were #1 when we de-throned you. No amount of SECCG bragging will sway my opinion of the arse-whipping that was 40-17

On sports TV last week, I was watching a panel pick their All-Time Top 10 NFL running backs.

This particular panel put Bo Jackson at #10.

27 years after the last time Bo Jackson strapped on a football helmet, football experts still recognize him as one of the best of all time.

Now guess who never got a single mention by this panel?

I'll give you three chances to guess but I'm betting you'll only need one.
