How soul crushing would it be for LSU and Florida if Lane told them no and stayed at OM?

I've been consistent with this throughout. He will stay at Ole Miss. I'll be the first one to say I'm wrong if I am wrong but I honestly can't see him making the move. He's stuck in the velvet ditch.

As an outsider, I don’t see why Lane would leave. He can be a legend there AND make millions. He has transformed that culture and his recruiting is solid to keep them competitive.

People say this every time. Coaches have egos and want bigger jobs. The end.

Not knocking OM specifically, but think what that could do for the scholarship fund, etc. This applies to all schools.

Exactly, Franklin walked away from a lifetime $2M+ dollar gig knowing there was a very real chance he'd get fired after making the playoffs and losing 3 games the next season.

After seeing the waste at nearly all schools and the programs that hand out worthless degrees, I am ok with giving to athletics.

If Kiffin leaves, it won't be for money. He's said that himself.

He is basically telling his suitors "show me your plan to support me so I can win". Kiffin is a smart guy.

Paying someone 54 million to not work is diabolical. No business on Earth would succeed doing this. These buyouts are just insane.

What planet do you live on? Every S&P 500 company does this. They pay tens of millions to get rid of c-level guys all the time.

OM will drop 2 of the next 4 and miss the playoff. Lane will be out the door before the bowl game.

1 donation to put an extra $20 million on top of the other that is currently in place.

LK has stated money is not going to get him to make a decision. That is in place to show him, he can retain or go get any staff he thinks he needs.

You just fired a guy and can't even afford the buyout that you agreed to. You're currently paying him his regular salary while y'all figure it out.

I personally think like that but you have to look at what kind money is thrown around too. You work the same amount of time and effort and get paid more?

Ole miss is able to get around the 4-year contract by using outside funds to guarantee a 5th or 6th, but this hurts Mississippi in general and one of the many reasons Mullen left. Lane's salary was extended beyond 4 years to a 5th year for 9MM/year. So at most 45MM in 5 years plus some bonuses and even then possibly 50MM? I'm not sure how much of that is guaranteed. Mullen made about 42MM in 4-5years with Florida. It would have taken him double that time if he stayed at State mainly because we couldn't extend.

What's keeping Florida from pulling an A&M and giving him a Jimbo type deal? 7 or 10 year 12MM with this little clause, "Fully guaranteed and not subject to offset if he coaches another job." Oh, and no state income tax in Florida like MS.

You have to admit though, Lane is a perfect fit for Oxford but anybody that says you wouldn't leave for that type of financial security is being dishonest. Don't worry Rebs, I still want you to lose but I kind of like Lane and even more disheartened Leach passed away. It was a good vibe between the two.

Ole Miss fans getting desperate like y’all have said, he wouldn’t leave because of money.. in all honesty I’m I’m fine if we do get him and completely fine if we do not. There are plenty of good coaches out there that will be interested to come to LSU, regardless of what Kiffin does.

I posted this after the UF job opened.

The OM mafia has mobilized.

Kiff will be making 14 million a year on a long term deal next year....somewhere.
