How soul crushing would it be for LSU and Florida if Lane told them no and stayed at OM?
I can see Kiffin doing this. He is the ultimate troll. He is setting LSU and Florida up for disappointment. And he will steal a couple recruits/players in the process.

With what he is building at OM he should stay. Win a national title and he is set for life. Make the playoffs with regularity and he is Mississippi royalty.

I remember when 20 million for a coach and staff was real money

It was reported by our pay boards earlier today

Multiple of our beat writers have reported it. The person wished to stay anonymous. It’s earmarked for football only for coaching and staff salaries.

You mean what Lane and Ed Orgeron did at Tennessee after secretly accepting the USC job?

I don’t think it would be soul crushing in the slightest as an LSU fan. I actually think it maybe what we need.
I’ve gotten on board with sumrall or an up and comer. I know it won’t be as popular but let someone build his brand from the beginning here.

Paying someone 54 million to not work is diabolical. No business on Earth would succeed doing this. These buyouts are just insane.
Posted on 10/27/25 at 6:56 pm to A10Rebel
LSU isn’t paying it. A single donor is covering the bulk of Kelly’s buyout.
Personally, I can’t imagine spending that kind of money on college football but happy to have boosters who can.

Every top 20 coach’s agent when a struggling big school fires their coach, even when they have no intention of leaving.

Not knocking OM specifically, but think what that could do for the scholarship fund, etc. This applies to all schools.
...or some place like Saint Jude's.

Hell, 30 years ago Big Jim Haslam dropped $42 million in one year for athletics.
The Anderson Football Complex is named that because former player Charlie Anderson dropped a check.
Same with the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
We play Oklahoma this Saturday. When we played them in early Sep. 2015 Charlie joined the Vol Navy.

I think Sumrall would be a good hire at LSU
