They wouldn’t take any action unless they already know internally he’s gone. This is likely all a dog and pony show for the public at this point

I doubt Ole Miss actually knows 100%, their "insiders" definitely don't seem to.

No one really does.

The message board “insiders” available to the public and almuni buddy info isn’t going to be privy. Not until the real insiders want it leaked.

The AD and boosters have to know though. The boosters are the ones writing the checks and ultimately making certain decisions. Might be only 2-3 guys, but they know. And if they don’t and Kiffin is playing them then it’s their responsibility to know that too. We’re talking about almost $100 million of their money

I'm not so sure Kiffin knows what he's going to do.

I think he definitely wants a higher profile job with more resources but he also wants to finish this playoff run with this specific team.

If I were an Ole Miss fan I would be mad also.

I continue to hope he goes to UF

It's his EX wife and college daughter. Try telling your ex wife what she can or cannot do.

Kiffin has it in his contract that it is okay for him and his agent to talk to other schools as long as he notifies the OM AD. How can this now become a reason to suspend him?

This shite show is exactly why Kiffin will never be the coach at Alabama. Our AD knows. Good luck, Ole Miss but LaNancy Kiffin is fricking up your best year in forever.

This whole discussion is a moot point.

OM would seem to have zero legal standing to tell Kiffin he can't coach in the CFP if he doesn't sign a contract extension immediately after the Egg Bowl. Does anybody believe that the fact someone's EX wife went on trips to Baton Rouge and Gainesville has any impact whatsoever on a legal contract a divorced man has signed to perform services over a number of years? If OM tells Kiffin he can't Coach in the CFP I expect he will have zero problem proving in a court he was fired without cause. All Kiffin has to say is he doesn't want to be distracted with a contract extension just before the CFP. Best thing OM can do is stop this publicity nightmare and shut down all the Chancellor statements and crap and offer a lucrative deal and let things play out.

There’s a lot of speculating for someone who doesn’t know frickall about his contract.

If he really cared about staying and coaching Ole Miss to a championship then he would have already signed that extension. Nobody blames him for being kissed on the lips by ambition and consider some more high profile jobs. There is a right and wrong way to do it though.

So what is the “right way” exactly?

Kiffin hasn’t said anything, and if he has, it’s been behind closed doors to the OM AD and president. What else should he, or any other coach in his position do?

Saban was right - the problem isn’t OM, it’s not Kiffin, and it’s not LSU/UF. It’s the college football schedule that’s not totally out of whack.

Sending his family to visit Gainesville and Red Stick were very public statements.

So then workshop the alternative. Waiting until after the season is totally over for OM, potentially late December or January, to start conducting his due diligence?

Is that really better for OM? You’ve missed December signing and you’re the last school on the coaching carousel when all the others have made their hires and coaches have signed their extensions.

Then y’all would be crying he strung y'all along and torpedoed any chance of making a decent replacement hire.

So what’s your better plan?

You asked what was the best way - publicly shitting on your current employer and slamming the fanbase certainly isn't the best way.

That doesn’t answer my question.

What’s the best way for a coach to handle this situation?

You didn’t answer the question because you’re either unable or unwilling to give a straight answer to a simple question.

Bawhahaha. Says a dude from Mississippi. What a F'n joke. A&M could buy the entire state with petty cash assuming they wanted it. oil, tech, etc, money.

I'm gonna enjoy watching TAMU and Texas eat this conference alive.

Imagine the guy who has made it his goal in life to be a distraction claiming he doesn't want to be distracted.

I mean, what you are saying is probably correct. I am just thinking of the irony of it.

Also, his reputation isn't going to be "ruined" to anyone other than Ole Miss fans and a few Karens. If he starts winning, all will be forgiven, no matter where he ends up. And honestly, he's just upholding his reputation at this point.

You realize he has dumped or gotten dumped by whoever he gets involved with right? His reputation is pretty proven at this point. Why did he get fired from two of his previous jobs? Why do you think you won’t be next?

The problem with Lane isn’t his ability to coach offense. It’s that he always puts himself first (like he is doing now). He is like the boyfriend that says he won’t cheat anymore, but everyone knows he will. At this point, Lane loves the chase more than marriage. The question is what is the next idea he gets in his head that he needs to chase? Alabama or the NFL?

It’s not championships he is chasing because I would say he has psychologically destroyed his team for the playoffs whether he stays or goes at this point. He has a chance this year, but he can’t help but shite all over himself along with the Ole Miss football program. You think he won’t do it to you, but it’s just in his nature.

If I was Alabama, I would call him every year in late November inquiring into his availability, and let Lane self implode. That is how petty Lane Kiffin is.

It’s a free country. Hire who you like, but at least go into this with you eyes wide open.

What’s funny is we thought we did. I quite honestly didn’t imagine we’d be in this position.
