Being the head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols is every southern high school girls basketball coach's dream.
that's the only job I could see him leaving for, honestly.

Freeze is the perfect blend of Billy Graham and Pat Summitt... he'd do amazing work in Knoxville...

Yeah...we do remember that.
But Tubberville never grew up as an Ole Miss fan. That's like saying Saban was a born coonass.

oh yeah... i don't think there's any comparison of the two... and college football is totally different today than it was 15 years ago, with regards to money.
Ole Miss can afford to match pretty much any offer (within reason) a bigger program would potentially make to Freeze. Everyone's got money these days to spend on coach's salaries... Vandy is Paying Franklin 2+ million.

quote:It ALL depends on how well he does. shite, Houston Nutt tore it up at OM and took them to back to back Cotton Bowls his first few years - even drew a ton of attention on the recruiting trail - fired up Ed's roster and had those boyz believing they could win. We see how that ended.
Really depends on how well he does.
Gene Chizik came in and tore it up on the recruiting trail, won AU it's first NC in +50 yrs, brought in another Heisman trophy winner. We see how that ended.
Give Freeze a few years and then have this discussion.

Ole Miss fans don't understand your language. You apparently are from the land of Reasoning.

We have learned the lesson of Tubberville. We will never lose somebody b/c of money again.

This is true to an extent. Nutt was able to get us to back-to-back Cotton Bowls but he did it with a roster that should've done so much more.
Wallace, Snead, Bolden, Hodge, Oher, Massie,Greg Hardy,Kendrick Lewis, Peria Jerry, John Jerry, Marshay Green, Jamarca Sanford, Rishaw Johnson, Dexter McCluster, Sowell (vomit but he's in the NFL)
I'm going off memory so there may be a few guys I missed and a few that weren't on the 08 and 09 teams. But regardless a roster like that should've done better than 2 Cotton Bowls.
As for Gene, he had some great recruiting classes but the only reason they won the NC was because of Newton and lets face it. He didn't bring Newton in the bag man did (nothing wrong with that)
But yea, we need to wait a few years and make sure he can keep up the momentum before he's annointed.

How high can you go? There are some pretty deep pockets out there.

$4 million wouldn't be a problem. Especially if he starts winning big.

Money talks and BS walks.
What's his salary now?
What's the highest the rebs have ever paid a football coach?
saban left LSU for the NFL.

Freeze kept his house in Oxford after Nutt didn't retain him.
The earlier poster made a good point... You can't talk about CFB coaches' futures matter of factly in this day and age... But I think he will be the coach in Oxford for a very long time... He should've been National Coach of the Year after jumping head first into the dumpster fire that was OM football and crawlin out with a winning record.

I'll bet right now that Freeze never leaves Ole Miss over money or a bigger offer from anyone else. If he doesn't win Ole Miss may get rid of him but he'll never leave of his own volition...for ANY college or pro job.
Freeze is in his dream job, the one he's wanted his whole coaching career. He'll be there 20 years from now if he builds a winning program.
