Clearly he hasn't heard about Pistol Pete.
Nope, sadly he hasn't.
When Marshall let's fly with a two-handed set shot from the half court line we'll know he's possessed by the ghost of Maravich.
Maravich the GOAT

The game has changed. You just can't compare...Kareem and Walton being there 3 years...NBA legends and GOATS who stayed in college and dominated.
Thanks for your comments. I'm glad to see it's not my imagination that the state of college basketball has declined ALOT over the past decade and a half.
Atlantic 10 > Big 10

Teams from the Atlantic-10 - LaSalle with two wins, and Butler, Saint Louis, Virginia Commonwealth and Temple - are 6-0 so far in the NCAA Tournament.

College basketball sucks. That's how it's summed up.
Top 16 College Basketball Teams of All Time
Posted by MonroeTiger80 on 3/22/13 at 10:52 am
This list was compiled by CBS Sports last spring (3/2012) and it's no surprise given the state of college basketball today that no national champion after Kentucky's 1996 championship squad made the cut.
LINK
When I think back to the level of basketball played in previous national championship games between the likes of a UNC squad that featured James Worthy, Sam Perkins and a freshman Michael Jordan vs Georgetown's Patrick Ewing and Co. or Duke vs the great UNLV teams, etc. etc, it's apparent today's NCAA basketball has fallen on bleak times.

I love watching the tourney but I agree. The quality of the play is horrible compared to what it used to be.
I used to look forward to the tourney with great anticipation. The last few years not so much.
The fundamentals of the game seem to have gone by the wayside. Postmen don't know how to start a fast break and instead try to dribble the length of the court and either have the ball stolen or lose the dribble themselves. Layups and simple shots from 10-15 feet seem to be nearly as challenging as shots from 25 feet used to be. Both the UNLV/Cal game and the Arizona/Belmont games were good examples of this. It felt like I was watching what would have in the past been not very good high school teams.
College basketball is almost unwatchable

5 seed UNLV misses 14 shots in a row from the field, can't make free throws and opponent Cal isn't much better.
1 seed Gonzaga almost loses to a SWAC school, 3 seed Marquette needs a last second shot to beat a 14 seed and horrible shooting from almost every team I watched today.
The game is a shadow of what it was 20 years ago.

Im assuming that all 4 of UK's freshmen will declare for the NBA draft.
I guess thats the plan every year. Sign as many McDonald's all americans and hope you either win it all or lose in the first round of the NIT.
This.
God, I hate the one and done rule. It's ruined the hell out of college basketball.
I guess it's perfect though for odious mercenaries like Calipari.
The NBA needs a minor league.

Yeah yeah...steroids. But he is one of only four FOUR players in the history of the sport to have 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.
Doesn't count. He never would have gotten to 500 homers without the juice.
And as it should be he won't make the Hall either. Neither will the other well known juicers.
re: Greater Athlete: Bo or Deion
Posted by MonroeTiger80 on 3/3/13 at 10:50 am
Bo is the only athlete named to the Pro Bowl and the MLB All-Star game in the same year.
He was the MVP in that All-Star game hitting a leadoff homer in the 1st inning.
Deion was at best a journeyman baseball player.
Bo = the GOAT

Bo Jackson and it's not even close.
MLB hall of famer George Brett thought Bo was a 500 homer guy and a cinch to the Hall of Fame if he'd have played baseball exclusively.
Likewise, NFL opponents thought if Bo had played football only and stayed healthy he would have been all-pro multiple times and been a first ballot inductee in Canton.
No other person that I know of has seriously been discussed as a hall of famer in two professional sports. Certainly not Deion Sanders,
Hence Bo >>>>> Deion

re: Roll call for tonight's game vs Brown !

The baseball team would have better served having a three game exhibition against Barbe or Parkview Baptist than against the slugging Bears of Brown University.
What a wasted weekend.

So what does this list really reveal?
That Kevin Sumlin, Les Miles and Todd Berry are the only coaches in America who've discovered the super secret formula to beating Bama in Tuscaloosa.

Caught the very tail end of a ESPN radio report and I thought that's what they said

How badly is he going to be hazed in whatever locker room he ends up in?
