Chris Beard is not Marshall Henderson.

It just means more.

With all due respect, did you see the players he had?

I understand what you're saying but 10 titles in 12 seasons in a major sport is phenomenal. Other coaches like K, Calipari, Dean Smith, etc. had great players too and Wooden won more titles than all of them combined.

He won with big teams and small teams. Everyone assumed his run was over after Alcindor but he kept on winning.

Put any other coach in Wooden's spot with the same players and they win half the titles he won.

Yes and they would be crazy if they didn't.

A woman beater is a lesser offense than a slave enthusiast judging by social media.

Well yeah no shite, the question is would he want to coach there. If I’m Beard I’m waiting for a better job, not a knock on Ole Miss it’s just the reality of the situation. He could have any open job he wants. Hell Texas Tech might take him back.

Everyone did NIL. Your team, my team, etc. He knew what he needed to build a team when and knew how to mold them together as a team.

I would take Wooden over Rupp, Calipari, K, or Smith. He would beat them with his players and he could take their players and beat them. He was the best.

When Wooden was coaching there were only 16 teams in the tournament.

John Wooden and Adolf Rupp could rise from their grave amd coach Ole Miss for the next 20 years and they still wouldn't be a basketball power.

Chris beard could sleepwalk ole miss to the NCAA tournament. We would be top half of the sec year one with beard + portal players. If he somehow stuck around for 3-4 years and accidentally had time to put together a run watch out.

The portal + Chris beard would be dangerous. Especially if some other SEC jobs open up this off-season if Texas poaches an SEC coach and other schools at the top are faced with rebuilds.

ETA: he’d be a top 3 coach in the league the day he signed his contract.

I believe they only took conference champions so there was no avoiding anyone in the tournament.

The one advantage Wooden did have was most of the best teams were in the east and the committee kept them bunched together and did not move any west. That was the only advantage Wooden had but he still beat those eastern teams in the final four.

Beard to Ole Miss would be like a bomb hitting SEC basketball.

I am curious. Why does either of the Mississippi schools win in basketball? It would seem like y'all would have a lot of homegrown talent.

State has a decent history. Ole Miss has never really given a shite about basketball. We’re all in on football and baseball.

Ole miss has never invested the money into it to give it a chance. By invest I mean buy players. Now through NIL and before though under the table payments.

If we hired a coach that fired up the fanbase to care the NIL winning could happen.

My post is more about how great a coach and program builder beard is than how awesome ole miss is at basketball.

I was kind of hoping he’d start tonight, it wouldn’t take much for him to get up to speed.
