Slow Dixie is gone because of a bunch of retarded students who tried to stick it to the man and obviously lost miserably. If people would stop saying TSWRA at non-university sponsored events and the administration knew we wouldn't say it again, then Slow Dixie would return. Its an Elvis song for god's sake. The line is "His Truth is Marching On" not TSWRA, which was made by a bunch of idiot students a few years ago. The students (not all but the stupid ones) are solely to blame for Slow Dixie being taken away.
As for the others, do you really think it was a bad idea to get rid of the flags? I don't think its a coincidence that we began to suck after black athletes became a prominent part of most teams. And Colonel Rebel, while I like him, I don't want our mascot to scare away recruits. He needed to go.

I can't believe they would change school traditions and shite it's just stupid. If i was an Ole Miss student i would follow traditions and wouldn't give a frick bout the administration says, i mean thats what being a rebel is all about right?
Tradition is not what lead to Slow Dixie being taken away, it was idiots saying something over the last few years that wasn't even one of the original lyrics and the nation as a whole sees it a racist.

Who the frick is the political correctness at Ole Miss aimed at? This is the state that overwhelmingly voted to keep the Battle Flag in it's state flag.
Don't give me that bullshite about recruits, we all know you're waiting for Payton or Eli's son.

Pretty wild how many Ole Miss fans on here are willing to give up their traditions. Battle flags, mascot, allowing Dixie to be banned even temporarily...
You'll never be good at football. Face it, the only thing you had going for you was your tradition, and clinging on to your Antebellum fetish. Now those are gone too.

I hope so because if you mix Eli's genes with a womans then that boy will be a mega-pussy. Peyton's kids will go to UT when he is the HC or AD.

In modern day terms: tradition or not, the confederate flag no longer symbolizes anything to do with the civil war, but more along the lines of taking pride in hate and racism.
It may be "tradition" but people no longer view that garbage in the same light as you guys do.

I have no problem with tradition. As long as that tradition isn't and can't be perceived as exclusive of an entire group of people. I love Ole Miss tradition. Col Reb, the confederate battle flags, and TSWRA were things that were hurting our school and athletics program. We have keep what we can and leave what we can't.

well you got rid of all those things and you still can't beat j st and vandy.....maybe you should go back to having all the strong anti black traditions like in the 50's when you winning

We got rid of the flags in the late 80's or early 90's. We got rid of Col Reb in 2002. We got rid of TSWRA prior to the Tennessee game last year. Also, the only thing of those things that existed back when we were winning was the flag. Col Reb didn't come along until the 70's and TSWRA was so new it was barely a tradition.

barely a tradition is just code for we didn't give a possibly great tradition a big enough chance.

Col reb is crying in his confederate handkerchief
