Lol, Tech fans would revolt if he came back. However, he left in such a shady way it would not surprise me if he screwed over Ole Miss.

Why? He’s the best coach y’all have ever had and there’s no risk of Texas coming back to get him

Do they have IHL approval? IHL has been getting the heat for the failed JSU President hires. They might be a bit tentative with this guy's baggage. If he was fired at Texas but didn't do the DV, why is he not suing the school for wrongful termination? Didn't they use that for getting around his buyout? I'm just asking. I didn't even know the guy's name until yesterday.

Schovanec and Hocutt would crawl on hands and knees to Austin if they thought they can get Beard back.

And I would not blame them if they did. He's worth it.

Could care less about that, if a blue blood takes him then he did a hell of a job at ole miss

Ole Miss should negotiate from a position of strength now while it is their chance to do so. Why settle for a few great seasons when you can build an elite program? Make it hard for him to leave while he is desperate and needs the chance.

Yes and the IHL will do whatever they can do bring attention to the state. Right or wrong, UM, State, and USM should be doing everything they can to break away from the IHL. There is no reason that someone from State or USM should have a say in who UM hires much less JSU, Alcorn, and Valley. State should feel the same way.

No, Tech does not want him. He is a wife beater, and Texas made the right move dismissing him. Tech does not want a known woman beater associated with the school. Some schools don't care I guess.

If you do it right, my experience with IHL essentially rubber stamps anything you bring to them if you did your homework. They approve certain contracts with this guy's being one of them. They will do a deep dive with this guy's history.
The biggest "positive" I have with IHL (and they can be a pain in the arse and make things take longer than necessary) is that they carry the weight of all public universities to the legislature. The HBCUs would have dried up years ago without the representation of IHL. Ayer's took care of that for the longest but The W and Delta State would have floundered. If each school had its own BODs and did their own lobbying it would be Ole Miss, State and the rest toss a bone or two.

No other state is doing this. They receive their large portion of state funding. There is no reason that Ole Miss and State should suffer athletically or academically due to having the same requirements and low standards of the other public universities in Mississippi

Just to add, Delta State and the W would’ve probably been fine without the IHL, as well as JSU and Alcorn. MS Valley is the only one that would have truly been hurt.

Correct. UAB, UTEP, etc. not funding the entire state’s HBCU’s. It’s asinine for Ole Miss and State to expect to share revenue and funds with these schools.

Not the way it works, but OK.
