Loving all of the Ole Miss fans pretending that their program isn't a Vandy tier dumpster fire most years.

Not sure what in Florida's history makes people think they can pull off this big of a hire. Their splashiest hire to date was what, DC Muschamp who was the heir to Texas? Or a Dan Mullen from State that none of the other big schools ever wanted? Outside of that, they hire winning G5 coaches almost exclusively.

Florida's biggest years come when both Miami and FSU are down (or at least, at best, slightly above average). FSU is a dumpster fire right now, but Miami isn't. Is it really the best time to jump in as the Florida HC?

Lies.
There were years when all 3 were top 10.

I would say Urban Meyer was a bigger hire than both of those.

Its not UF can't do it, Foley never believed in it.
He would always say "we're not going after anyone else's coaches"
He would always go for up and comers from a lower level.

Kind of my point. Not a lot of big splashy hires. Urban was a fantastic hire but not exactly setting the media world on fire by taking a Mountain West coach (at the time)

He was the biggest name at the time but like I said Foley and crew didn't believe in going after other P5 coaches for whatever reason and it's why UF is in this spot.

I'm not going to lie. I think there's a high probability he would go to Florida.

Has a house there.
Coached at FAU.
Likes it there.
FL has more money (easier to get kids via xfer portal ((biggest draw)).
Recruiting.
Recent history
Flirted with the Auburn job and would have taken it but was talked out via daughter.

Cons: doesn't like to recruit.
Boosters are much more involved than at Ole Miss.
Tons of coaching turnover in short period.
Without immediate 10+ win season they'll fire him

His house is like a 6-7 hour drive from Gainesville. Kiffin doesn't like Florida, he likes Miami.

All that said, Florida can hire Lane Kiffin. They'll probably have to make him nearly, if not the highest paid coach in CFB on top of paying out Napier's buyouts and Kiffin's staff's buyouts. You're looking at a ~$40m transaction just for the buyouts across the board before you start talking about paying Lane and his staff. I just don't see that happening.

his ex-wife is a Gator which means his kids are/could be considered "Gator Legacy". i believe i also read his ex-mother-in-law lives in Tampa.

who knows what the conversation his daughter had with him about the Auburn job, but it could've gone like:

"Dad, I know you're considering Auburn, but what about Florida? Mom went there and I think it'd be cool if I went there as well."

there are more connections with Lane to Florida (school and state) than most Ole Miss fans want to admit.

yeah.....that's a HUGE selling point for Lane.

His daughter plays volleyball for Southern Cal. If the kids loved UF as much as your theorizing, they aren't exactly showing it.

simple google search shows multiple websites saying she lives in Manhattan and before that....Manhattan Beach, CA. She's fricking loaded post-divorce. You don't go live in fricking Tampa when you're as rich as she is.

As a divorced father who loves his children more than anything, where my ex-wife went to school and where my children's maternal grandparents live means frick all.

His daughter can go to UF like her mom or to USF to be near her maternal grandmother regardless of where Lane is coaching.

He might end up at UF.....I can't read the future.

But if he does.....it has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything listed in that post and EVERYTHING to do with money.
