Clarion-Ledger Amazing. Usually their stuff is at least 48 hours old

That's interesting. He was a finalist for the chancellor job here around the same time Ole Miss hired him. Apparently we dodged a bullet.

Isn't it David Vitter's brother?

I seriously doubt it, but no ill will towards the guy

Yeah is this the same thing that Vitter's brother is or is he head of the University of MS system if that is such a thing.

OM folks are happy about this right?
I don't know any details, but my sense was that ya'll didn't think he did well for the university. What were his issues (if any) that you didn't like?

Dude was a limp wristed waste of oxygen that did nothing but give in to the NCAA and SJW faculty! Glad to see him gone. Hope we get some real leadership with vision going forward!

And people want to complain about F. King Alexander...

I don't speak for all, but sports aside, compared to the last two chancellors he doesn't look to have done as well. Under Khayat and Jones, enrollment increased and academic standing improved. I don't think these same factors have significantly improved as much under Vitter. As far as his politics, he did some things that pissed the conservatives off, but that's not going to change no matter who we hire.

Thanks for the info!
Hopefully ya'll get a better fit. Both of our schools need to improve to help the State and perception of the State.

quote:OM folks will have to answer that but from a tangential point of view, pretty much his entire tenure had to have been hard day to day with the constant oversight of the NCAA, the probation, the appeals process among many other things I am sure. Seems like Jones left it in a mess with all the diversity stuff he tried force feed the school (and the alumni kind of bowed up to it). They have had a hard run with Chancellors going back to Khayat's early years and prior to him Gerald Turner. I liked Dr Turner and I thought Khayat did a good job in his early years. Khayat changed and wanted Ole Miss to change in his latter tenure which ushered in the super diversity (read liberal) Jones. Just observations......
