Ole Miss enrollment up 3.2% to 23,838

quote:

The incoming freshman class increased to 3,969 students this fall, up 4.2 percent from last fall’s 3,809. The group posted an average ACT score of 24.7, besting last year’s average of 24.3 and setting a new UM record.

Mississippi State to 20,873

quote:

First-time freshmen currently enrolled at Mississippi’s flagship research university total 3,471, a 497-student increase over the fall 2014 count of 2,974. The previous record was 3,156 set in fall 2013.

18% increase in new freshmen.
quote:

MSU President Mark E. Keenum said the university’s record 2015 enrollment numbers were achieved without sacrificing academic excellence, noting that the university maintained an average first-time freshman ACT score of 24.

Winning is good for business.

Ole Miss might have the most beautiful campus, but it seems somewhat small. What does the administration feel like is the maximum enrollment for Ole Miss?

I know LSU has 30k and wants to get up to 35k, with more out of state students. However, as big as the campus is, parking is a fricking nightmare. I'm glad I'll be out in December to not witness that future mess

I know growth in enrollment has its benefits, obviously, but at some point it changes the dynamic and feel of a place.

Tuscaloosa now is so different than when I was younger. So many fricking Yankees and Westerners.

Parking on campus is absolute hell. It's the one thing I absolutely hated about attending there.

They need to raise their enrollment requirements but the State of Mississippi won't let us or Mississippi State do that. And it's becoming a huge problem.

To solve the parking issue all the administration would have to do is tell freshmen they can't bring their cars on campus.

I'm not sure how much further the University wants to go in terms of student capacity but as of now parking is a nightmare on campus and at this rate we're going to need a few more parking garages.

Enrollment is nearing 40,000. Time to slow down or start making use of the Bryce property.

There's a parking area behind Kinard that would be perfect for one. I don't know why they haven't put one there. And when the Tad Pad is demolished they could put a really big one there. We already have the one by the new basketball arena. Having those three would definitely help

With the amount of out of state kids we have I feel like this would cause a ton of outrage

No cars for freshmen would be my solution.

I'd make them park off campus at the whirlpool center
