I’ve always found that old LSU logo to be scary looking.

This, which I always thought was the point. A ferocious tiger instead of the original sailor hat or Toonces.

I’m glad that ones still on our helmets.

The interlocked MSU logo needs to come back bad. It’s the second best logo they’ve had outside of their baseball logo

Agreed 100% although I did also like our old school walking bully.

uh, it's been on our helmet for a long time, at least the late 60s

I don’t think it started until early to mid 1970s. I watched highlights of the LSU - Notre Dame game from 1972 a couple of days ago. The LSU helmets had the player’s number in a block style on the sides.

Edit
helmet history site shows the current form started in 1977 but has been modified several times; shows number style ending after 1971 and from 72-76 a tiger head style with LSU beneath the tiger

LSU changed their helmet logo from the one in the OP to this new, more streamlined Tiger in 2014.

Auburn tiger has a broken jaw due to zoo life.... UGA bulldog has wry jaw due to breeding without health checks, as well continued inbreeding.

Alabama has brought back the old logo pretty significantly the last 2-3 years. With good reason.

That logo is Alamite. Bama's real live elephant they had in the 40s-50s.

Great article about Arthur Evan’s who basically went around selling the same beanie tiger to every school in the country as well as reselling the same beanie wearing bear.l to schools like Baylor, Cal and UCLA.

LINK

If your school has an old cartoon of your mascot with a beanie chances are this guy drew it.

I think a lot of folks have been going back to retro logos recently, especially with apparel. But in the spirit of the thread, think it would be apropos to put out some awful 90s to early 00s era logos that were prevalent in the SEC

Alabama:

Arkansas

LSU

Kentucky

Tennessee

Vanderbilt

I've got this hanging on my wall, I like the 2nd one down - [/img]

I recently bought a T shirt with this logo on it, I think from the 70's? - [/img]

But you can't talk about UK logos without mentioning the infamous "dick tongue" logo from the 80's before the administration found out and changed the tongue - [/img]. I have a beach towel and cups with this very logo. The artist apparently liked dicks in that kind of way.
