re: Baked vs Smoked vs Fried Turkey

Posted by OldCat55 on 11/21/25 at 3:07 pm to
I always bake a large turkey. Butter, salt, and pepper only as a reminder of Thanksgivings past.

I also inject and do 2 turkey breasts on the rotisserie. First time people try it, they ask why I didn’t fry a whole turkey.

Costco

If the price of your TV drops within 30 days of store pick up or home delivery, Costco will refund the difference.

I bought a C5 on the last Sunday of August, the next day it was $200 cheaper. I had to wait until it was delivered to call customer service. Two days later Costco had refunded the difference. Their rep told me to keep checking price because as long as it was within 30 days from my delivery date they would refund again. And, you’ve gotta love a 5 year warranty.

I’ve had it for a little over a week. It’s very nice at night and does a great job during the day in a pretty bright room.

I purchased an LG C5 77” from Costco and am waiting for it to be delivered. I did a lot of research and found many sites where it was rated as the top overall OLED. Sony, Samsung, and LG OLEDs all had great pictures. I was leery of Samsung because I read a lot of negative reviews relating to power board problems in the larger TVs. All my current TVs are Samsungs.

I used Rtings.com to compare brands and models. They really break down the various performance areas of the TVs and show the actual test results as well as providing a brief summary.

The G5 is ‘better’ than the C5 but costs almost twice as much.

re: Non-Stick Pan for Eggs. Help!

Posted by OldCat55 on 8/27/25 at 8:24 am to
Bought my wife a set of LeCreuset non-sticks. I’m currently the only egg eater so I’m the exclusive egg cooker. They work great for us with everything we’ve thrown at them.

ETA: cheese comment: with no spray, butter or oil, 1 slice Sargento cheddar, 1 kosher dill spear - This is a family favorite. The pickle is wrapped in the cheese as it softens. Never even thinks about sticking and the cheese gets very crispy.

Oh, and that big blown out hair? Yeah, that too.

With the right humidity, my wife’s hair goes back to the 80s. I like it.
My evacuees just arrived at my house. Person I know that works there said it’s going to be a total loss.

ETA: there’s a smaller petroleum plant next door to Smitty’s, Ballard’s Petroleum. I’m trying to get word on that now
My wife loves her Buick Enclave. My daughter loves her Traverse. They both have the highest trim level, Avenir and High Country. The Traverse is slightly larger than the Enclave. Both are 2021 models.

It’s my daughter’s first vehicle purchase. She asked me to help her car shop. Back then, we also test drove the Cherokee and the Telluride. All had their positive attributes. The Traverse was by far, at that time, the roomiest especially in regards to front seat shoulder room. She narrowed it down to the Traverse and the Telluride immediately. This was when cars were hard to find and over invoice was the norm. Her purchase came down to availability and price. Every telluride she looked at was 6k over invoice and there weren’t many around. The traverse in Baton Rouge was 1.5k under though locally they wanted 3k over. Where I live, Chevy/GMC, Jeep, and Ford are the way to go for after purchase services because they are the only dealers within 30 miles.
My land was, for the most part, cleared by German POWs. Their prison camp was in the vicinity of the Hammond airport. My grandfather used to talk with them. He told my mother that they were so surprised to find intact American cities. Apparently, they were shown propaganda films of America in ruins. Most did not want to return to Europe after the war.

Edit: to fix a swipe type error

inner dialogue going on almost constantly

I constantly have trouble sleeping. I tell her it’s because I can’t get my mind to shut up and shut down for the night. My wife cannot understand it. She can sleep anywhere anytime. Maybe she has little to no inner dialog while I live with a chatty arsehole in my head.
I had a fairly large colony of cicada killer wasps take up residence near my house. They have built a bunch of nests in the hill behind our outdoor kitchen and stocked the holes with cicadas. So, I’m not even hearing the usual amount this year.

If this is not what you are doing, give it a try. Gives you more leverage. Hope it helps

Thumb and forefinger of dominant hand around the bend where the ‘bottle’ tapers. Off hand with firm grasp on cap. Turn ‘bottle’ NOT lid.
Don’t think that’s all the HRs. Did not notice the Pearson brothers going back to back. I may have missed it but I was looking for that. Didn’t hear John Pearson’s named called at all.

Still, a great video and fun watch.

Top 9th I realized I didn’t have a drink in my hand. Ran in and made a couple of vodka martinis and sat back down just as the bottom of the inning started.

All post season, I’d had the same drink during all the night games.
I hope Arkansas gets over the hump one day. If you do, you’ve got the type of program/support that could lead to multiple titles. I was enjoying the game last night and kept thinking ‘all this intensity and no bullshite between the players’.
