Lets not forget they played in the big 8. Only other real competition was Nebraska.

True, but the Red River game with Texas was still an annual non-conference game. Also, OU often played stellar non-conference opponents while being in that conference most seasons.

B1G started after Pedo State in the late 80's, BEFORE, Arkansas joined the SEC
This may not make you happy, but it is how things unfolded. just because Pedo took longer does not mean they were last. B1G kept waiting for the Irish, and they still are.

Best thing for Nebraska was to keep the BXII together but the old SWC made sure that mending of bridges would never happen. While the Cornhuskers may be doomed to oblivion in the B1G they are better up than the dysfunction of the B12. if this visual helps.

Unlike many on here, I am not laying all the blame just on Texas, but I am not suggesting they are fully innocent of all the crap that went on and destroyed a good conference. B12 went from possibilities unlimited to major cluster*ck in about a decade. Letting Baylor tag along in the first place was the eventual crack in the damn that killed it all later.

Meh....the best thing for CFB would be for OU & Texas to head to the PAC...take along OSU and one other.
CFB needs to be more of a national brand and getting two blue bloods in the PAC might help raise interest out west.
Getting to a final 64 is going to almost be impossible though. I believe the current P5 plus ND is 65....so which one team gets left out?
The SEC has plenty of good programs already..they will focus on markets if a super 64 forces them to 16.

I doubt they would want to play in this conference week in and week out.Too many losses to endure and drop in perception.They are having a tough enough time in that weak conference they are in.

i remember the old swc days when we could pencil in 8 to 10 wins a year then get thumped ooc by sec teams.....good times..
