Covering him with a slow linebacker was a bold strategy.

Why do you love spaces between the commas and periods?

putting a white linebacker on the Heisman is very ineffective gameplan, then again, not even a top 5 corner in CFB Stingley could cover him either

They didn't do that on purpose. They opted to stay in their base defense the entire game because it's just what they do, but it also allowed Sark to quickly identify the weak spots and create nightmare matchups that their style of defense prevented them from getting out of. PFF wrote a good article on it.

A guy like slim reaper is going to beat your secondary most of the time. Your only hope is to get a lot of pressure on the QB and hope he makes bad throws. No one really had any success with that either.

The Outland and Remington winner made sure of that.

Once OSU lost their two best DL due to Covid, they had to find a way to get some pressure on Jones. Their hands were tied at that point and resulted on many mismatches in the secondary. That has been the problem all season.

He was covered by an LB on 1TD. Not sure about that game plan.

The linebacker wasn't that slow. Smith was just that fast. You couldn't cover him with a King sized blanket.

I'm not a big schematics guy but even I was questioning why they weren't trying anything different, especially with the linebackers in coverage. It didn't make sense that it was their plan from the start
