No way, that can't be right.
Won the 1937 Orange Bowl
Won the 1983 Sugar Bowl
Won the 2004 Sugar Bowl
Won the 2010 BCS Title Game

...

Well, dang. 5 losses and a tie to go along with those.

You sound rustled, per the usual. Talking baseball smack (as if I give a shite) in a football thread.

Before the playoff, no 9-3 team that lost to Memphis would have gone to the Sugar Bowl and you know it.

You wanna get mouthy? I'll post the list again, you want me to post the list again?

My criteria for a "major" bowl game:

BCS Championship
CFP Championship
Peach (2014-present)
Cotton (1937-1995; 2015-present)
Fiesta (1987-present)
Orange
Rose
Sugar

Those year ranges though

Why not include the past's major bowls as well?

Pretty sure he did.

Care to elaborate? Do you mean old school Gator, etc?

Why is there a gap for the Cotton?

Why not count the Dixie Classic if you're counting the Cotton?

his seems kind of arbitrary. Mizzou finished #4 in 2007 and #5 in 2013 while playing in the cotton bowl.

Well we finished #4 after winning the Capital One bowl a few years ago.. Which was the highest in the SEC pecking order after the BCS games.

Bowls were regional and invited regional teams. So when you have a selected BCS bastardized grouping with time frames like this, its going to be skewed.

For instance including the old cotton bowls, but not the Peach. Citrus and Gator missing as well.

The old Cotton Bowls included a conference champ (SWC, then Big 8, if memory serves) - the Peach, Citrus and Gator never did.

The Cotton was a much bigger deal than those because of that.

That isnt a requirement for every team on the major bowls listed, so why is it a disqualifier on others ?

Tennessee finished #3/#2 in 95 but that doesn't mean the Citrus was a major bowl.

The '05 Peach Bowl was a battle of Top 10 teams, that shouldn't count either.

Because it lost the SWC tie-in for 95 (Texas was the last SWC champ and they played VT in the Sugar) and wasn't part of the Bowl Alliance and BCS.

The SWC champ was REQUIRED to play in the Cotton for over 50 years.

That's what I'm saying. There's a lot more politics and back door stuff going on to be invited to a "major bowl" than just being deserving on the field.

Blame the BCS rules, not "politics."
