I think a 2-loss AU in this scenario wouldn't get in the playoffs....likely wouldn't win their division (Bama) or the SEC (Bama vs UGA).

Solid New Year's day bowl however.......

It would be hard to keep that Auburn team out IMO

With 2 losses, they'd have to win the conference to get in.

10-2 Auburn only losses at a #1 and a top 5 both on the road and close games. In or out for Auburn under this scenario?

Out because UGA plays in the weak East and the committee will take that into consideration, so Auburn will be penalized for that loss.

Auburn should beat Washington and MSU.

Losses @Bama and @UGA.....I will throw in a loss TBD because Gus is usually good for losing one he shouldn't every year.

Auburn will go 8-4 just like they did following their last two double digit win seasons.

A&M owns that stadium

ATM was lucky enough to play at the loveliest village on the plains during down years. I predict a thorough beatdown by the war eagles this year and most likely giving Jimbo his 5th loss of the season by then.

Looks like yall's trap game.

Aub has lost 2/3 in starkville

But how did the most recent one in Starkville go?

Nobody is worried about State, but maybe y'all can keep the difference under 4 TDs this time around.

In his defense yall's D has been really stout the last two years.

Well bad news, its going to be really stout again this year.

And its not just AU, Fitz has been trash against defense with a pulse his entire career.

No team has made the CFP with two losses. Ever

If Auburn won the SECCG last year they would have made the CFP with two losses.

But they didn't win the SECCG.

As would Ohio State if they'd only lost to Iowa by 3.

A 2 loss team CAN make the playoffs, but a 2-loss non-champ has virtually zero shot.

For sure. I was just responding to the post that said a 2-loss team has never made the playoffs before, and even though that’s true, it very easily could have happened last year.

If that was Bama's schedule then I would say IN.. Because, well, Bama. But no you'd be out. Only Bama gets in with 2 losses

You can go to the playoffs with 2 losses, but you need to be conf champs. So in your scenario, Bama has to have 2 SEC losses and another team with 2 losses in the West (and Aub wins the tie-breaker). Something like Bama 10-2 (losses to LSU, State) and LSU 10-2 (losses to Ga, Aub). LSU is a better hypothetical 3rd team because they would have a win over Miami who it looks like would be a good OOC win making LSU look good thereby your win over them look good.

Then you have to absolutely destroy Georgia in the SECCG.

It isn't likely tbh.

Almost certainly out. Bama and UGA would probably each have 0-1 losses after the SECCG, and they both would have head-to-head over Auburn.

You may win a game you shouldn't but you'll also lose a game or two you shouldn't. AU will not be 10 - 2 and you're not going to the playoffs.

Out.

2 late losses would be hard to overcome UNLESS they were to beat an undefeated UGA in ATL.

AND there are no power 5 champs with less than 2 losses.

Very unlikely, but I guess there is a chance.
