Guys, don’t sleep on Mike Leach, he’ll have a top 12 team in a couple years, and the playoffs is expanding isn’t it?

Miss State - no, only because of the cowbells
Mizzou - prefer to see an SEC team win it
SC - yes, have been a friend to LSU and good fans
Vandy - no, they don't deserve it with how little they have tried

Mythic my arse - we went undefeated, including our bowl game and Bama lost to a Texass team we beat earlier in the year.

USC if for no other reason than Spurrier 2: Electric Boogaloo was some fun football watching for a few years. Lattimore, Clowney, the improbability of Stephen Garcia

Vandy after I’d placed about $10k on them to do so preseason.

Both are champs but are mythical because any team can claim it if they went unbeaten or just had one loss.

I don't think that's the way it works

Vandy.

Their only sin was fielding amazing teams before the poll era.

1904 Vandy gave up 4 points all season, going 9-0 while outscoring their opponents 474-4 (8 shutouts).

5 games scoring over 60 points; twice over 80. They had undefeated teams in 1910, 1921 and 1922 as well.

Biggest upset in bowl history. Destroyed an Oklahoma team that would be the champs had they won. Set Orange bowl records such as RB Roland Sales with 205 yards rushing as a freshman that only played because several starters on offense were suspended.

Arkansas should have given a split of the title

Oklahoma had already lost to Texas that season......who had also beaten Arkansas.

If we just want to claim titles where we lost 1 game and finished somewhere in the top 3 or 4 as national champs there are gonna be a whole lot more national champs.

Alabama will have about 30, alone.

1936 (8-0-1, #4)
1937 (9-1, #4)
1966 (11-0, #3)
1971 (11-1, #4)
1975 (11-1, #3)
1977 (11-1, #2)
1994 (12-1, #5)

They are all mythical as they were determined by human error and not a playoff.

If you have three teams with one loss and all three claim they won it that year then who was the champ?

You can't determine that with polls decided by human bias.

Yes that still doesn't take away the fact Arkansas was a 20 plus underdog to Oklahoma with several starters suspended. Arkansas won 31-6. Oklahoma lost 13-6 to Texas.

No one from the nation and the media gave Arkansas any respect. Even broadcasters doing the game wouldn't acknowledge that Arkansas was winning big until the last three minutes in the game.

Yes but Arkansas didn't lose to a 5-6 Ole Miss team and it should have been split with Arkansas, Alabama and Notre Dame.
