Right and if Saban retired and Alabama wanted Stoops he'd say no.

I'm not saying we could keep him, but comparing UK football to UA basketball isn't apples to oranges. The right coach COULD have as much success at Bama as anywhere else, once he got it rolling. Now, obviously, there's a certain aura about kentucky basketball that UA basketball doesn't have. On the other hand, if it's not a given that Bama could get Dabo, a Bama boy through and through, to leave Clemson, it's not a given UK could get Oats, assuming he's rolling and doesn't feel he's held back in any way.

So, I'm not saying he wouldn't go, but it's also not completely impossible that he wouldn't. It won't be money, if he leaves.

My goodness, do you know what this means! It means you hate Kentucky and you're an idiot.

I mean, you know he would leave too. You just haven't accepted it yet.

Right now we could lose him to a blue blood. We need to get off our arse when it comes to Basketball facilities.

Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Duke, etc could all lure him away.

Most other programs would be a lateral move at best, prestige/upside wise.

Can a you give me an example of a Bama coach leaving for greener pastures??

Unless the program comes under sanctions, I'd say that chances of Oats leaving for a "blue blood" is slim to none... 1) He ain't leaving for money... Bama is one of the richest athletic programs in the country... Someone offers to double is pay, Bama will match it and probably offer more... 2) Most of you are too young to remember but back in the 80's Bama was an SEC Basketball powerhouse... Wimp Sanderson won numerous SEC titles... 3) He's got Bama basketball rolling!! If, by some SLIM AND I MEAN SLIM chance, that he ever wins an NCAA title at Bama, he will have begun his own legacy and will be a LEGEND at Alabama...

But, but, it's Kentucky or Kansas, blue blood and all... Please that's so overrated that it isn't funny... Not sure about how many others pursued him but I remember him being extremely appreciative/thankful that Bama have him a Chance to coach at a Major college program...

SO if he is able to build something special at a major school, with an unlimited budget and a fanbase that's been waiting to support and unleash a potential sleeping giant, why would he leave???

Why though? Why go to a place that will boo you on your own court and constantly expect you to be in the final four or think you have failed... where you will be compared to giants and never measure up, when you could stay at Bama and do something no one else has ever done?

It's safe to say UK fans moved on from Billy Donovan and Jay Wright?

I doubt it.. no coach has ever left Bama for greener pastures. Until one does, I'll defer to the status quo.

Nate Oats is from Wisconsin and still has a lake house up there. If Indiana or Kentucky come open after this season he'll be gone.

Not saying you are wrong, but he lives on the lake here and has commented in several interviews how much more lake time his family gets to enjoy here because of the weather.

Oats would leave bama if one of the big time schools calls upon him and truly wants him. Bama isn't the program in basketball that they are in football...not even close. There are alot of basketball programs that would lure him away from bama if they truly wanted him. That's just the truth.

Stop being fricking delusional.

The only reason Rick Barnes didn’t jump to UCLA is because they were too cheap to pay his buyout and UT is a better basketball job than Alabama. Some guys, most guys, just want the blue bloods.
