And companies want to put their HQs in large cities with a lot of young talent, close to top universities.

Take away that 1 you have, and it might help restrict the Aggies from doing their thing at your state house.

Not saying these are Fortune 500, but some awesome products/companies from some of the states:

Tennessee - Little Debbie, Cracker Barrell, Auto Zone, Pringles, Bush’s, Goo Goo Clusters

Missouri - Precious Moments, Hallmark, Anheuser-Busch

Alabama - Milo’s, Red Diamond

Kentucky - Girl Scout Cookies

Where are you getting this information? In 2018, Georgia had 20/21 Fortune 500 companies. I’m curious to know if 4-5 Fortune 500 companies in Georgia folded or moved.

They didn’t fold or move.
They just moved out of the Fortune 500 most likely

The assassination of JFK led to the development of a lot of F500/1000 HQ's in the Dallas area.

The interstate commerce took a noticeable downturn in the 60's due to the negative association of the Presidents death and it hit the Dallas area exponentially.

Recognizing the trend the city spent millions on development strategies and most importantly offered companies unheard of tax rebates to relocate into the area. The ripple effect from those efforts combined with ongoing support and natural benefits of the state resulted on a very healthy representation of what you see in this report and extends further as you broaden the scope.

St Louis has more people than KC, but we are bigger in land mass. KC is a sprawled out city with lots of suburbs.

Nashville is an awesome city. Memphis is a terrible city. I think we can all agree on that.

I loved growing up in Nashville. I could go on all day about what is so great about Nashville, but I'll do you and other board members a favor and save my breath. However, I like Memphis a whole lot. I have a lot of wonderful memories in that city.

It's not as blighted as it was ten years ago. I have hope for its future. There is a lot of development going on in the Memphis metro area.

To the other Vol posters, sorry to rag on East Tennessee. But let's be honest, Nashville and Memphis do the heavy lifting for the state. Thankfully, Knoxville and Chattanooga are booming, which is what I like to see. I have really come to like Knoxville since I have been living here. There is a lot of growth here, and the city itself is surprisingly hip.

I stand by my claim that the worst areas in Tennessee are in East Tennessee. The Upper Plateau near the Kentucky border as well as areas like Newport are awful. Those places aren't coming back.

There is a specific reason Texas and Florida are two of the top 3.

No state Income Tax...

That is .the reason Dallas for example has Exxon, Frito Lay, Verizon, etc etc etc and most PGA golfers live in Texas or Florida.

They dont pay state income tax on their sizable income.... Reason Toyota move to Dallas Area from California. Cost of living and Tax burden relief.

As a person who moved from Texas after 20 years to Georgia. State income tax sucks.

St. Louis is quite alright. It reminds me in a lot of ways of Memphis- both good and bad. There's no shortage of things to do there.

I really enjoyed Kansas City when I visited. That is one cool town. I hope to come back soon. If I drive out to Colorado, I'll make it a point to spend a night in KC.

Tennessee doesn't have one either, which, I think, is fueling a lot of the healthcare and automotive industry growth here. The only tax on personal income we have is the Hall tax, which is a tax on investments. By 2021, that tax will be phased out.

I use to go to Nashville on a regular basis when I would go with the family to what was called Fan Fair week back then. Seen plenty of concerts at Titan Stadium (it will always be called that to me) and spent a lot of time downtown. I had a lot of fun there, and remember thinking Nashville reminded me of KC. Both are comparable in size in the metro area, and both are very clean for major cities.
