They'll lose 5 games and some of these early commits will end up flipping and before you know it the hype will back down to where it has been the last decade: non-existent

What hype? Recruiting? Cuz that's not hype that's just news you don't like.

The hype is based on their current recruiting class ranking with 18 commits. However, if you rank their class on average rating, it is only 7th or 8th best in the SEC. Based on that I would say their hype is overblown at this point.

They are the next big thing in the SEC East. Pruitt is recruiting his arse off.

butch jones was better than pruitt will ever be

Which is the reason that Butch Jones will definitely be the replacement for Saban when he says bye. I'm sure of it, Bammers deserve his rare ability to recruit and lead a team.

Not buying the Tennessee hype

You are not required to.

Top 10 class last year, improved/a year more experience in an extremely talented Oline, a nice recruiting run when sports are dead, staff improvements in most areas, top 5 facilities in the country, top 10 all time program, expected to have an excellent defensive this year, etc.

Their biggest weakness is QB play. Fix inconsistent QB play and they merit the hype. So how does that happen?

A) Gitmo shocks the world and plays to his potential. Meaning he doesn’t screw up and learns to trust the team and Chaney while they learn to trust him.
B) The staff goes a different route with a more gifted athlete and Hill or Holiday come in with the added threat of a running QB
C) The Freshman Bailey wins the starting job in a short spring/summer and the staff can run the offense they want in a more balanced way
D) Mauer or Shrout get the nod to start and they look over their shoulder as musical QBs and we hope for the best.

So there are options to fix the issues at QB and QB play. The short summer/spring make Gitmo the most likely to be the day 1 starter with Hill (4* transfer from Maryland in 2019 and sat out last year) the next guy in. Hill ran the scout team last year and is most familiar with this years WRs.

Imo Bailey gives UT a higher ceiling, but also a lower floor. Would set them up nicely for the following year too.

Their class is almost full, their composite average is 252.32

You know where that would place them in last year's 24/7 composite ranking? 17th overall behind Washington.

Pump the brakes on this recruiting story, by next January they'll be out of the top 10.

You know a lot of those three stars will be dropped, right?

Their best win was a 4 point win over UK and a 1 point victory over Indiana....at the end of NSD it will be around the 7th best class in the SEC...Tenn is still way behind UF, UGA, and Bama.

Recruiting rankings they already have 21 commits of those 12 are 3 star players. A better class than recent years but at the end of NSD it will be around the 7th best class in the SEC.

Yikes. Looks like another board retard.

You hear it every year - "they are back" then they always go out and are mediocre at best...

Reminder- they are 5-3 all-time against Mizzou (something I'm surprised they don't get shite on for more often).

You do grasp that these are not the final player rankings right? And these are likely year old evaluations at best right? That it’s may and and the services are way behind evaluating this years kids. And that success breeds success in recruiting so some kids will likely be recruited over. This class will likely take 1 more transfer and end up at 27 commits it will likely end up as a top 5 class and 3rd Or 4th in the SEC At worst.
