They are the East coast, California. I don't want a single one of those fart sniffers in the SEC.

Yea..Miami has not had a ton of fans I think for many years. There is a ton to do in Miami and going to CFB games is probably low on that list.

Most teams in the SEC are in "college towns"...so Saturday during CFB season is basically a holiday.

Yeah, and I kind of wonder if this isn’t already pretty far along. The article talks about UNC being part of the negotiation with FSUClemson, with an eye towards this. Apparently the the numbers for an exit start looking good around 2030, but they might be able to sneak out earlier. All that reporting makes me think there’s 4 teams at least ready to go, maybe more.

Do yall realize that over the past 20 years Wake Forest has been a more successful football program than UNC and UVA? Unc has not won an ACC conf title since 1980!

Also, Those schools are a terrible culture fit for the SEC

SEC would rather have UNC, NCST, FSU, and Clemson than any other cohort of new additions you could pick out of the ACC and Big-12. Notre Dame is the only team unaligned with the Power 2 that would pop one of those 4 off the list.

I get the impression that the SEC does not like Florida State for some reason. I think it is due to the fact Bobby Bowden refused to join when the SEC invited them in the early 90's. Bowden went to the ACC to try to get as many titles as possible with the weak schedule.

SEC teams don't give up 70 points to James Madison.

Maybe we should just expand to 20 teams and let the original 10 all play each other and put the newbies in the other division:

The OG Division:
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss St
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

The NewBloods Division:
Arkansas
Clemson
Florida State
Missouri
Oklahoma
North Carolina
South Carolina
Texas
Texas A&M
Miami

12-game schedule. Play all 9 teams in your division plus 2 from the other. One OOC game.

This is actually not a bad setup at all. For the present or for the future.

The conference expansion reminds of the craft beer boom 10-15 or so years ago.

It was all the hype and talk of the town and people couldn’t wait to grab some barrel aged Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk stout, triple IPA with a billion different hops, or a lavender cucumber rose water sour. Well, all that rage and newness quickly wore off and people are now going back to what people know and have liked for ages ….Miller, Coors, Mexican lagers etc…

I think most miss the CFB of old which was much more regionalized with the SEC, Big Ten, PAC 10/12, ACC, Big 8/Big 12, SWC, Big East.

You might want to reconsider that statement given we are talking about Longhorns and Catholics here.

VA Tech?

They are a worse athletic program than UVA at this point. The football team has fallen off a cliff and they were never good at much else. Charlottesville is a much better town to visit as well.

I don't really want the conference to expand again. At some point, you stop having a conference and start having a crowd. However, if we absolutely have to, UNC would be the top target.

I don't understand the logic of inviting Clemson and Florida State. Just seems like they wouldn't add anything we don't already have.
