TV footprint growth. Those other schools add little to nothing in value with new viewers.

UVA brings you DC.

UVA is lost, night as well be Columbia. Don't want them. I would take VaTech as a more appropriate member of the SEC

I barely enjoy Texas being part of the SEC. You honestly think an intelligent school like Notre Dame wants to deal with a bunch of dumbass inbred gumps and trailer trash?

by GamecockUltimate: It really wouldnt be. Nothing about UNC is SEC. They dont give a shite about football, they are a very wine and cheese crowd. It would be an awful move.

All time record…

UNC 36 - UofSC 20

I guess you’d hate to see UNC give a shite.

13-7 Gamecocks lead since NC's win on Oct 23 1964 -

for some 60 football seasons now - USC has held the series edge - emphasized by winning 7 of the last 10 meetings -

They can want in one hand and do something else in the other.

Those stuck up wokesters are not needed in SEC.

If we add more schools we better force a renegotiation of our TV contract because we got fricked compared to the Big 10 last time.

Not that I like any of this too but just the way it is.

I'd much rather see the SEC with 10 like 1991 again, gimme back the cheatin assed SWC and Big8 along with the pac10... but that boat sailed a long effin time ago.

I get UNC certainly but why UVA

Both would be good pickups, push the SEC brand to Mason Dixon, but neither is great at football

UNC obviously a basketball school but UVA is a good all around program, just rarely great at anything

we're playing a zero-sum game with the B1G whether we like it or not, and there are only a few obvious expansion candidates left out there. UNC is one of them
This is the end of the discussion.

All the hand wringing in this discussion is silly. It's not about "cultural fit." VA Tech and NC state bring essentially nothing to the table. UNC is a big player and so is UVA.

The bottom line is this - if you want the sec to survive, you have to expand. Expansion requires new TV markets with robust numbers. That means eyeballs watching advertisers. UNC and UVA have that, solid, wealthy alumni. If the SEC doesn't grab them, the B1G will, which hurts the SEC

You can't go back to the regional, colloquial, parochial, old timey ways. They are long long gone. WPA ain't hiring no more. Apples don't cost a nickel.

UVA is a lot like modern Texas: premier in state school that has all the resources in the world but still trouble collecting hardware.

Both are well rounded.

On the surface you think UT is the better program, but UVA has won a baseball and basketball title since Texas last won anything in the big three men's sports.

Nobody got fricked like CBS though. Paid more money for a worse product, saw the bottom line results.

Need to go back to 10 or even 8 team conferences. The SEC, SWC, Big 8, PAC10, ACC, Big10, Big East. The good ole days.

Eventually, I believe it will be all three Florida schools, with Miami being the possible odd man out. Theo in UNC, UVA and Clemson.
You will have to be a flagship school or have a big following.
And in 25-30 years it will all implode and go back to smaller conferences and crazy arse realignment
