If anything I think y'all are under achieving and need a new AD to re-engergize sports on campus. A good AD who hires good coaches and gives them what they need to succeed could make Missouri dangerous across the board. Say what you will about A&M but the real sleeping giant in the SEC is Missouri if they get their shite together and keep their talent in state.

We’ve been hearing this since Tom Osborne first said it in the 70’s.

At some point, it has to become a fulfilling prophecy.

But we already have rivalries…why shouldn’t we just stick to those?

The Missouri and Arkansas series will be good games but it will still fall short of the Texas/Arkansas series. The Texas game was a sellout crowd last year. The rest of the SEC games struggled getting at full capacity.

Let's see what happens when Mizzou and Arkansas have had forty games or so. There is just too much interaction between people in NW Arkansas and Missouri for a rivalry not to develop at some level. There is no rule about how many rivalries a team can have. Arkansas' rivalries currently

I hope you all get Texas back as an annual rival. But in the end you could have pretty heated rivalries with all the flagship state schools in all the contiguous states plus A&M. That would be great fun for Hog fans.

It’s pretty much of rivalry, to be honest Arkansas is all over the place with who is and isn’t their rival, and the people they name don’t even consider them their main rival, who is their main rival?

I don't get worked up over Mizzou. If they're good, ok. If they suck, ok. Don't care.

It will probably always feel like an OOC game to fans of a certain age.

I think it's fine. I don't care about Mizzou, because I don't really feel like I know Mizzou.

Oklahoma will be a natural rival to Arkansas. There will be some hate from the start.

They are a much more beatable opponent than Bama each year and would be an easy road trip that Arkansas didn't have before.

It's more like Arkansas is to Texas what Mizzou is to Oklahoma: a historic rivalry with some massive historic games, but ultimately lopsided in favor of one blue blood over one non-blue-blood.

You don’t understand the history then. Texas racked up a dominant record like 100 years ago. In the modern era it has been much more competitive. A lot of big and close games. Arkansas was Texas’ most consistent threat for the SWC title in the 60s 70s and 80s

To put some numbers to this -

Since 1960, Mizzous win rate vs OU is 18%

Arkansas has a 38% win rate over Texas

Since 1960, in the time they shared a conference together, Arkansas won 10 conference titles to Texas 13

For OU/ Mizzou that number is 2 conference titles for Missouri, OU with 22

As long as Arkansas is playing Texas as a yearly opponent then the Missouri game will keep sliding down. Not enough Missouri and Arkansas fans interact with other. I live in Northwest Arkansas and I rarely see Missouri fans, in fact Southern Missouri is mostly Arkansas fans even some found in Springfield.

Arkansas had plenty of time to have rivalries with SEC schools but those seats were already taken. Arkansas fans like the baby boomers and generation x have dreamed for Texas to get on the schedule. Despite not playing each other yearly for decades, they have faced each other at least once every decade and the hate is passed down from one generation to another generation.

I don't care personally much about Texas. I attended Arkansas in the late 90s, so never really experienced Texas Hate. We played in the Cotton Bowl in 2000.

But, I can say that the time we did play Texas, the extreme hate from people older than me was inspiring.

Being a SWMO resident, there are Arkansas fans… but they don’t outnumber Mizzou fans?

No not really. Texas and Ole Miss is our closest rivals. Our rivalry is not just about football. It's in all sports and it's in our dna. We're competitive against each other in everything. Missouri and Arkansas it's just a fabricated rivalry. Missouri was blessed to be matched up with us during our Chad and Bert years. They enjoyed some success against football but we still beat them in every other sport. And now that football is back to being Arkansas standard this is nothing more than a fabricated BS want to be rivalry especially since we dominate them in all other sports now.

SWMO resident here and I honestly see more Arkansas stuff in my neighborhood than Mizzou. I know there is probably more Mizzou fans at the end of the day but you sure don’t see it being advertised around here which I’ve always found odd.

If you live in McDonald County then you will see people wear hog shirts but not a lot and I don't remember seeing just maybe a rare few of Missouri fans. But I think that county isn't much into sports.
