Exactly. Should we initiate a post-game review of film for offsides, holding, or pass interference, and suspend players if the call was missed?

Alabama getting preferential treatment. What's new?

I agree there shouldn't be a suspension. However there has been a precedent set to suspend these guys for stuff like this. Which is annoying.

The lsu poster remarking on the AJ hit that was flagged is correct that it does maks Dial's hit look worse. AJ's hit was much less violent and only helmet to helmet as the defender's facemask nicked McCarron's as he went over him. On replay it was a legit flag if a bit ticky tack as it was a very close call to make.
On the other hand you have Dial's hit which was very obviously helmet to helmet (side of Murray's head smashed the front of Dial's) and clearly should have been a penalty. The SEC even admitted as much.
If both penalties are called, nobody calls for the suspension. But they weren't and the lack of consistency in such a close game is what people are upset about which is why there is such uproar that there was no punishment. Does it change the outcome? Who knows? But it leaves a bad taste either way and I would think anyone with half a brain would realize this.
My opinion is that it should have been a penalty for an illegal helmet to helmet hit and that Dial should be allowed to play. Saban should hold him out a quarter or a half as it was punishment worthy but that should be a team decision not a league mandate.

Any GUMP that thinks the hit was legal, is nothing but a blind homer. While the hit , DID NOT warrant a suspension, it was definitely illegal. To say otherwise shows your ignorance or bias.

They (many officials, etc.) likely looked at the replay hundreds of times to determine if it was a helmet to helmet hit. To me it was in a gray area where Dial didn't seem to intentionally lead with his helmet but because he is so much bigger than Murray, their helmets definitely collided during the hit. I would have been OK with either interpretation. Regardless, the hit was completely unnecessary since Murray was well away from the action.
What ??? If he's bigger than Murray his helmet should not have collided with Dial's.

I think what elevated the uproar about this particular play is that previously in the game, McCarron got hit and it was flagged. Yeah, it was deemed helmet to helmet, but it was more so in the action of the play itself and appeared not nearly as violent as Dial's "block."
Had the the hit on McCarron, which was an attempt to sack the QB, not been flagged, I don't think you'd see so much controversy about the hit on Murray.
This. Dont really care about the no suspension. Dial was doing his job especially on replay Murray was making a half arse attempt at playing defense. Always gotta key your head on a swivel. Just so happened that later in the hit there was helmet to helmet. However the McCarron hit was the exact same thing. Hard hit shoulder first attempting for sack and there was minor helmet to helmet. Only difference was McCarron was a pussy and went straight to the ref and happened to play for Bama.
It should have been either both flagged or neither flagged.

Nope. The McCarron hit was the EXACT definition of the so-called "defenseless player"...
Murray was just another potential tackler getting jacked up.

This, Dial did hit him in the helmet, which should have been flagged, but he didn't lead with his. Murray got jacked up, but he was within ten yards of the play and jogging towards it, had every right to get blocked.
Hell Murray took it like a man, or a like a football player, and didn't bitch about it after the game, so many pussies up in here.

IIRC McCarron hit was ruled helmet to helmet which is the exact same call the head of officials said that Murray hit should have been.
Either way no flag was thrown till AJ decided to be a poon.
