Not a Finebaum hater, but he just got worked by Pollack and Herbstreit on Gameday. His lack of true football knowledge has always been glossed over. If he has more weekly segments on Gameday like the one he just had, he won't be lasting long.

Big duck in a small pond and such....

He was rough on Chizik. What he said wasn't untrue, but damn...it was like Chizik banged his wife or something.

He doesn't have a great voice. If it wasn't for the dregs of the auburn and Bama fan base , he'd have no show. He is a no talent hack that rides the nuts of which ever (Alabama/ Auburn)team is good at that moment.

Finebaum's lack of understanding ACTUAL FOOTBALL, will hurt him against KNOWLEDGEABLE former coaches/players doing commentary. On TV he will be exposed big time . . . like he just was against Pollack and Herbie.

Right. He rarely talks about actual football. You never hear him break down a play or talk actual X's and O's.

All he knows is that Saban is really good and Bama is good.

How did Finebaum get worked over? I heard him get shout down, but as I understand it, he said Auburn would be better, they kinda agreed but with caveats, and then they said the defense sucks, and he said the offense was the problem.

I saw them gang up on him, but I didn't see him get outsmarted on anything.

Don't be fooled into thinking AU fans call his show. Maybe once - but after being constantly cut off for having an opinion or being made fun of, I really doubt AU fans even listen to him any more, and certainly very few call in.

Those ridiculous calls are part of the show and set up ahead of time.

He's bought and paid for by bammer, and any rival of bammer is fair game for his hatred and agenda.

I wasn't watching. I think another poster said that. Im talking about his radio show. He never talks X's and 0's and you can tell he doesn't know a lot about the actual game of football itself.

Why would ESPN put this pervert looking moron on their show? Another reason not to watch.

I thought he had a bunch of auburn regulars that called. Maybe not. It's been so long since I listened.

The regulars that call(ed) do so bc they're embarrassing. It added to the show...

Didn't know much about Finebaum until I heard him on Sirius radio. Listening to those "southern boys" call in and guys like Pat Dye and the other cornpone stuff were great entertainment. Looked forward to it everyday.

Exactly. He keeps the worst callers, and if he doesn't have enough embarrassments, he just has people pretending to be certain fans.

It's been years since I listened to that show, but if a reasonable AU fan called in, he/she was never allowed to state their opinion either for AU or against bammer. They were talked over, ridiculed, and cut off. The T-town menswear scandal was certainly taboo and was not under any circumstances to be discussed.

It's funny how everyone outside Alabama assumes he's some Bama homer. Yes, he's all over crimson nuts these days, but that happened when Saban arrived and he saw an opportunity to shift tactics and get more attention. Before that, he took turns taking cheap shots at Alabama and auburn and had both fanbases hating him.

Dick with ears summed it up. Don't take anything he says seriously, because he doesn't.

He's never claimed to be an X's and Os guy. He's a newspaper guy. An opinion maker. A very successful troll.

This has always been true. He got audibly upset when callers would want to talk about football.

Pollack and Herbie have high Football IQs. They probably resent a guy like Finebaum, and make him pay for it.

Tammy from Auburn can't help him on the GameDay set. Finebaum was pretty good at interviewing guests, though. Much better than anyone else in B'ham. So that needs to be his gig--sports reporters, true sports, that kind of stuff. On-your-feet analysis? Give me a break. He's a hack.

And yes, he should thank Nick Saban for where he is. Period point blank.
