Up until last Saturday it would've been difficult to argue against LSU, but now you could d a half-arse case for Georgia. If Georgia goes 15-0 and matches LSU's 15-0, a decent argument could be made for Georgia.

IF Georgia wins its last two games this season:

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:

LSU – 3
Georgia – 2

CFP appearances

LSU - 1
Georgia - 3

Weeks ranked No. 1 in the CFP

LSU - 3
Georgia - 12

SECCG victories

LSU – 5
Georgia – 4

Series record this century

LSU 6-5

SECCG head to head this century

LSU 3-2

SECCG appearances this decade

LSU – 7
GEORGIA - 10

...The argument against LSU is that they only went to one SECCG game in 11 seasons between 2008 and 2019. LSU spent most of that time wishing that their coach would be fired, and it's hard to be a juggernaut if the fans want their coach fired the whole time. Also, LSU's 2020 and 2021 were clunkers and really embarrassing.

Also, Georgia has clearly been the better program during the CFP era, and it aint even close.

Regardless, based on the fact that LSU has 1 more national championship and also that they've had to play Alabama every once every season, I'd say that LSU is still the clear-cut second-best SEC program this century.

But, if Georgia wins the SECCG again next season and LSU is sitting at home watching the game, the situation might change.

When I was typing all my shite up I wanted to come to the same conclusion, but in the end I just couldn't do it.

UGA got to reap the benefits of being in East for years. Not the same for the Tigers. How many times did it take for them to get over the Bama hump?

Georgia's SECC drought for winning the whole thing was from 2006-2016, having actually broken the drought in 2017, obviously.

I still don't know what happened in the 2nd half of the SECCG in 2011. At what point kicking the ball directly to Tyrann Matthews seemed like a good idea is a modern mystery.

Harder to get over the Bama hump when you only play them periodically and not at least once every season.

It was a strange stat. Georgia had the lead at halftime of the 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2018 SECCGs, and they only won one of them.

Alabama
LSU
Florida
Auburn
UGA

UGA will pass Auburn and Florida if they win the title this year.

How many times has Georgia played Alabama or LSU in the regular season? How about both?

It's like one of those Big 10 teams that never plays Ohio State or Michigan.

If you are strictly using 2001-2022 as the time frame, I don't see how you can't go with LSU. Sure they've had MUCH lower lows, but they've got more national titles and more SEC titles. Those are kind of a big deal.

If we win the next 2, I think an easy case can be made that we are the #2 program all-time in SEC history.

It’s not an excuse. I can’t even imagine the amount of additional SEC championship game appearances LSU would have if Georgia and us switched places.

They keep insisting on making the games go all 60 minutes. It's infuriating.

Due to the permanent cross-division opponents, I believe Florida is the only one that this can happen to, since the SEC was befouled by those carpetbagging poseur fake Tigers from CoMo and whatever the hell aTm is.
