It's only going to get worse.

We don't have the money except for UT and ATM.

bullshite take. Pure bullshite. If you take your SEC blinders off you'll see the sport has never been better, talent is spreading around the country, and coaching is improving (everywhere but the SEC it seems).

Watch what happens.

Players expect to play earlier now,

Why is this a bad thing?

College football is an audition for the NFL and you only have so many years to put together a resume, why shouldn't a player look for the best opportunity to get as many reps on the field as possible?

Please tell us your prediction. Seriously. I'm so tired of the doom and gloom comments of many fans.

The best players will go to the highest bidder. What's so hard to understand?

Most college football fans are un-American if it means the team they support benefits. Guys want to play early and earn the money they're getting rather than riding the pine and sucking up resources like an able-bodied bum on welfare.

That's going to happen with some players but for many it won't. Jeremiah Smith was offered more money to commit and stay at Miami than Ohio State. But, Jeremiah wanted to play for the best WR coach in college football, Brian Hartline. The NIL/transfer portal era is more about good coaching than money. If you're a good coach, can develop players, and the money you're offering players is within the market rate those coaches and their programs will be fine.

Another truth is a lot of coaches who were able to stack talent before NIL and the portal were average to good coaches but weren't the elite wunderkinds many of you thought. Some folks are getting a needed reality check.

For now. Look at the progression. Soon the offers will be too much to resist if they aren't there already.

There is no such thing as a team anymore just mercenaries.

If the market can withstand player salaries so be it. The market has withstood coaching salaries including ridiculous 8 figure buyouts. So, I'm confident the market will withstand player pay including eventual 7 and 8 figure annual salaries for some players.

Call me racist but I believe comments like this are made because most of the players are black and a lot of white folks get uptight with young black guys are getting money and especially when some of them aren't nice people and are arrogant.

Yet money was never an issue when coaches where getting paychecks bigger than an entire states lottery...weird...

Don't pretend you wanted this to be about student athletics when it is monetized at every level like Nascar, then get on your feinting couches when it kills your advantage.

You knew this was going to be the end result right?

I don't know where return on the investment will land. For now, the sky is the limit and the SEC (save UT and ATM) cannot afford the escalation rate.

Why just the sec? Everyone is participating.

The SEC has always out recruited all but a couple of the blue bloods. So the SEC just had more talent and depth.

Now with the portal, if a players signs with an SEC school and doesn’t start within a year, two max, he is leaving. Look at Traeshon Holden at Oregon last night. He originally signed with Alabama. Because of the portal he is at Oregon now. Or, even if they do start and get a better deal, they will leave. Look at Ohio State all-americans Caleb Downs and Mike Mclaughlin. Both of those guys were also at Alabama last year. Or Bond at Texas. I could go on.

The reason it has disproportionately hurt the SEC is because that is who traditionally had the most really good players. If they were not starting, they were developing for the future when they would be a starter. And if you had an injury they were the 4 star to step in. Now that is gone.

That is why it has disproportionately hurt the SEC as has the 12 team playoff format.

Nah, I will call you a dumbass as usual. It doesn’t surprise me that you just played the race card.

You are the worst imaginary black man on this message board.
