if they leave, they have to give up their scholarships (if any), but if some idiot was paying them to say, cheerlead or play in the band, and a bigger idiot at another school offers them more, they aren’t beholden to anyone
Most people opposed to paying players don't realize that both the band and the cheerleaders have been paid for a long, long time. In fact every single person who touches the field on gameday got paid to be there - except the people actually producing the product that generates all that revenue.
This story doesn't make much sense. The first couple months are tiny doses to get your body acclimated to the drug not to take weight off. I've taken Zepbound for 10 months. First month is 2.5mg for four weeks, then 5mg for four weeks, then 7.5, etc until you reach the highest dosage of 15mg. I actually started taking it a year ago but had to stop for almost two months due to the shortage last spring. Then I made the mistake of starting back where I left off with the next higher dosage and got sick for a few days. Dropped 75lbs at 50. Last time I had this waist size was 10th grade.
How much was that stock down the previous week? I bet it's still not where it was 10 days ago.
Inflation does the same thing without destroying the credit of the USA.

Waiting until after midterms is probably smarter
There's always an election coming up. If he would've waited until after the midterms the same people would be saying "why isn't he thinking about 2028???" This kick the can BS is how we got into this mess.

I have a hard time believing a few hundred bucks increase in a monthly payment due to homeowner's insurance spells doom
You don't think an unexpected few hundred a month increase can wreck a lot of budgets? That's several thousand dollars a year.
I bought new in October and got 1.9% on a 3yr. If I would've known the rate was going to be that low I would've financed the max. My credit union offered me their best available at 5%. The dealers were desperate to move inventory and sounds like they're even more desperate now. There's been a bump in demand the past couple weeks with people getting ahead of the tariffs but those ppl were already looking to buy. Once that demand is filled sales will go back to nothing.

South African Krugerrands? JM Bullion will buy random year for $3,044 as I type this. Your local dealer will give you much more as they are desperate for inventory.

You won't get spot price when you sell it. You have to pay 28% 'collectable' tax on the profits.
Depends what it is. Dealers are actually paying above spot right now for gold/silver Eagles and Maple Leafs and have been for about 6 years. The paper price is that out of whack.

This is exactly why I voted for Trump.

Same here. But saying 'tough shite, should have saved more' to a ton of Boomers who voted Republican in 2024 isn't going to turn out well.
Who cares? They caused this mess.
Good thing he doesn't have to worry about reelection huh? Just pull yourseff up by your bootstraps and you'll be fine.

It is not the government's job to support your gambling habit.

This statement portrays the economic firepower of the majority of this board.
If you truly had "economic firepower" you would've been prepared for this and it wouldn't effect you in the least. In fact many of us are going to do quite well. In the long run the majority will be better off.

Unless you're a degenerate gambler with all your eggs in "the number always go up" basket. They're screwed. Those people are the reason we're in this mess and I have zero pity for them. Time to live within your means. Pull yourselves up by those bootstraps you've been telling us about all these years.

Coming up next will be house prices dropping by 30%-50%. Finally.
It is not the government's job to support your gambling habit.

Just admit you're poor and don't have any investments.
You are the reason many of us are rooting for a market collapse.

Yes, they have competitions all over the metro area.
I don't think anyone expected them to have a Quiz Bowl team did they?
It's definitely the school to go to if you like drinking a bit and driving real fast.
