According to John Adams from The Knoxville News Sentinel, Saban was recently booked to speak at a dinner hosted by the Athens, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce, a decision that has some local Tennessee Volunteer fans voicing their dissent about the choice.

“You CANNOT be so naive as to think Saban has agreed (to speak) out of the goodness of his heart,” one Tennessee fan emailed Preston. “This shrewd person is doing it to benefit recruiting. PERIOD. Don’t for a second think differently, or you are a fool," said one Tennessee fan in an email to chamber president Rob Preston .

“So, on behalf of the vast number of TN fans, thank you for doing your part in helping Saban and the hated AL program. I can only hope that people are not dumb enough to support your event.”

you left out an important part:

The event has already reportedly sold 981 tickets, outselling last year's event that featured former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer and members of the 1998 national championship team, which drew a crowd of just 276.

What recruits are in Tennessee? Last couple of years there have only been a couple D1 prospects. Most don't pan out because of grades.

I really, truly think doing this kind of stuff and watching opposing fans go apeshit is entertainment for Saban.

Jalen Hurd out of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Stud running back for Beech High School. He has a ton of offers though and running back is not gonna be an issue for Alabama for a while, especially after this last class. I don't think he becomes a Vol though. The state of Tennessee doesn't produce a ton of horses for football, but when they do they rarely stay home....

Wait... so Vol fans are worried that Saban is gonna steal recruits... at a local chamber of commerce function?

I got my ticket months ago, that place will be packed with Bama fans. Billboards are even up in Knoxville about it.
