70s is king. Guess Who. Bad Company. Grass Roots Eagles. On and on. Today’s music is the best since the 80s. 90s and 00s was just bad.

I like listening to Dwight Yoakam still.
But only when you are a thousand miles from nowhere with your guitar and Cadillac right?

I preferred the music of my generation more than today's music but I know part of that is simply a generational thing. Pop music is pretty much trash, way too superficial but as others have pointed out there is some alternative stuff out there that is pretty well done. I'm not sure there is one correct answer here, music enjoyment can be very subjective.

Has anyone ask him how long he sits on the shiter yet?

Today’s pop music is beyond gross

Absolutely agree. Today's music is pure shite. Least the 90s had some good bands in rock. Soundgarden, Radiohead, Tool, Rush, etc. Now its just... Awful
There are probably lots of really good bands out there the problem is they don't get the air time they used to.
There was a time you could be a great artist AND get radio time.
Those days are pretty much over, the only acts that get playtime and exposure are the generic crap.

Disappointed, rant.

It doesn't take today's top college coach to tell us that today's music royally sucks. No identity, many samplings from "real" songs, and a general bunch of rap and crap.
While I'm big on classic rock (and jazz and 70s-80s punk), one thing people should remember is that the market is so saturated that we're not hearing some of the extremely good bands playing today. The pop and rap stuff dominates the charts, but they kinda dominated most of the charts even back in the "good ol' days." We just choose to forget about them because, well, they're forgettable. (Even so we remember a lot of their names even if we can't hum a single one of their tunes.)

I have four favorites on a DVD in my car, all right?
Real Saban would never say "all right"

But he would call it a DVD rather than a CD, so not an imposter.

He's right. Music today is shite

Obviously if you're just turning on a pop station you're gonna get a bunch of dog shite but the alternative scene is producing high quality music at an unprecedented rate. The old white rednecks on this board don't have the patience or basic internet skills to find it though
The music is no better or worse than it was, is, or is going to be. I agree that some great music is being produced right now in all genres although i’m still partial to the stuff I grew up with because it has nostalgia attached to it.
Here’s the thing though, instead calling people names because they don’t know about some of the great music being made today, why not give a list of some of your favorite current artists?
I’ll start.
Jason Isbell
Alabama Shakes
St. Paul & the Broken Bones
Leon Bridges
Chris Stapleton
Sturgill Simpson
Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats

This would be a slam dunk line up.

News flash, you can listen to better music and don't have to listen to top 40 shite.

Good music still comes out but you have to look hard for it.

Obviously the greatest era of music was the British Invasion. You can't top the groups that were around and individual talent(not all British)
Doors, Zeppelin, Floyd, Beatles, Hendrix Experience, Cream, Stones, Who...my freaking God it was amazing.
80's the hair metal scene I hated but still had amazing bands. Guns and Roses, Ac/DC, Queen, U2, etc.
90's was a weird transition of music. I know older people hate on it, but I can't see why.
Rap started it's huge push, and it was still really good music. Nas, Jay-Z, 2-Pac, NWA, etc..that was really good music
Rock had Soundgarden, STP, Tool, Rush, RHCP, APC, RadioHead, Nirvana, Sublime(simple but it's the style), AIC. Some of the best vocals of all time were in this era. Cornell, Staley, etc...incredible list. Yes it lacked guitar solo's but it made up for it by the emotion it brought back to rock. More dark than the hair metal days which I enjoy more.
Today's music I simply see so few good bands. Rap now lacks any meaning behind it. Rock can't find it's footing. Country is so pop it's basically not country anymore. It's sad.

No Tom Petty? Saban come on. Some Florida fans may not know who he is but, he made some very good albums.

I was gonna ask for some examples, so thanks. I'll check these out, although whenever I've done that in the past, I still find myself disappointed. While the newer "good music" is far better than top-40, it's still rather lacking creatively, imo. One exception is the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
