Michigan should have had all their wins vacated for 2022 and 2023.

The problem is cooperating with the ncaa has always led to getting hammered while lawyering up and telling the ncaa to frick off usually lets you get away. The ncaa never really had any investigative powers and just relied on self reporting and suspected programs handing over their own evidence. The more you snitch on yourself, the more the ncaa is going to punish you. I dont know why any school chooses to cooperate with them at all, Michigan basically refused to give an inch and the ncaa was powerless to really do much of anything to them.

I think it's less Saban and more Kirby. "Well UGA fired their 10 win a year HC and upgraded, we can too!" - Penn State and LSU

I said from day one on here that Michigan probably wouldn't vacate anything because it had nothing to do with player eligibility.

But even Nick Saban couldn’t Nick Saban in the NIL and portal era.

There are hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on something that is unobtainable.

Many people here don’t remember Mark Richt.

Kirby Smart won 2 national titles in his first 9 seasons at Georgia. Saban won 4 in his first 9 seasons at Alabama.

Kirby Smart is the best coach in college football currently. But he has some work to do to be called the GOAT.

The NIL is less of a problem than the portal IMO.

Let’s face it, money isn’t an issue for the top programs, we all have lots. Where the issues are really showing is in the lines. Miss on a portal target or two and it hurts. Have linemen transfer rather than take a couple years developing and you’re screwed.

Good DC know how to attack weak points, and we’re seeing it every Saturday.

Very good point

Saban's unparalleled success lead directly to massive salary increases for coaches, as desperate ADs tried to replicate it, which lead to the "inequitable" visual of coaches making $10 million a year while the players got nothing for risking their health to play. Throw in a lawsuit and a bleeding heart federal judge that cared nothing about the actual sport and here we are.

You have pretty much summarized the current landscape--crazy beyond belief.

Obama was responsible for Saban, they had to make Bama a dynasty to stop their collective heads from exploding ala the guy in the Chappelle’s show Clayton Bigsby reveal

Saban was great, but he was helped a lot by being the head coach in the football capital of the world, Tuscaloosa, AL.

That didn’t seem to help the guys that preceded him.

Funny thing is Saban told everyone EXACTLY how all of this would play out, portal included

That is exactly why he was so good. He was psychic!

I think he could have had he been younger.
