Apparently Trump and DeSantis wanted to hear their thoughts on college football and collegiate athletics as a whole.

Trump knows most LSU fans like him. Many republican states like his priorities, some don't.

It's golf with the POTUS.

Why would anyone say no to that unless they have TDS?

Its golf with normal folks telling him what they'd like improved.(in football - NIL) I doubt it's high on his list, but I'm OK if Trump listens to them and what they have in mind.

- Shoot me down. This is not a big political thing unless people make it that way.

I would golf with any President not named Biden or Hussein.

As much shite as Saban catches, it’s admirable that he really does want to save college sports. He knows what’s broken and he’s trying to get those in power to listen.

I'd golf with Obama, I don't want to commit elder abuse with Biden out in the elements like that for hours.

If I can work with people I don't like, put up with my in-laws, and even go see friends even when I know some of their friends I don't like will be there...I can go spend a few hours with a president regardless of party. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most people.

Trump isn't really my favorite president but the man is genuinely funny and personable if you can put the politics aside. I'd 100% go golf or have dinner with Trump if given the opportunity.

Barry would be more likely to offer you a blowjob at the turn.

In my opinion, head coaches making eight figures and assistants making seven figures are part of what’s broken - but I doubt Saban, Meyer, or any current coaches will have anything to say about that.

Schools spent their money where they could until direct compensation happened. So they put money into development for the players (coaching plus practice and training facilities) and the game venues.

I think there is going to be a reckoning on coaching salaries because there are guys like Eli Drinkwitz who are getting paid more per year than over half the NFL head coaches. What has that man accomplished to be getting paid as much as the coach who got the Lions back to winning seasons and the playoffs? He beat some degenerate Buckeyes team with no QB a few years ago, I guess?

With the player's hands out - and sometimes they're getting paid more than NFL players now - I just don't see the age of above .500 seasons leading to you getting extended into making top-tier NFL HC salaries after 3-5 years.

I know the NIL genie will never go back in the bottle, but for the love of God, someone has to fix the portal

NIL doesn't necessarily bother me. It's always been hypocritical to say these kids were getting paid with a free education while the conferences in which they were playing in were signing multi-billion-dollar TV deals to make money off of their performance on the field.

However, the transfer portal definitely needs to be reformed. Not even professionals have the freedom and leeway these players have to move about every single offseason and start immediately.

Most kids even in power conferences got a good deal. Free education isn’t just tuition. These kids get 3 hots, a nice cot, all the fringe expenses like books, a bunch of free Nike gear to wear, top tier S&C, top coaching, dietitians, tutors, etc. Gen pop could end up with six figures debt to go to these schools and not even get half the benefits afforded to the athletes.

What does this have to do with LSU?
