But here's where things get REALLY interesting... ??
Several major European cities are reportedly already looking into establishing their own Super League franchises. London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Frankfurt are among the cities rumored to have shown interest in hosting teams.
The long-term plan being discussed would reportedly include promotion and relegation.
Yes... PROMOTION AND RELEGATION. ??
Under the proposed system:
?? NFL = Top Division
?? Promotion / ?? Relegation
?? NFL Super League = Developmental Division
?? Promotion / ?? Relegation
?? College Football = Player Development Pipeline
The craziest part? International Super League teams could supposedly earn promotion into the actual NFL by winning their way up the table.
Imagine the Kansas City Chiefs getting relegated while the London Monarchs earn promotion to the NFL. ??
An NFL official reportedly described the concept as creating a "true global football pyramid" that would give players more opportunities to develop while expanding the game internationally.
So basically... the NFL looked at English soccer and said:
"You know what? Let's copy the whole damn thing."

Promotion and Relegation works in the Premier League because there is not a salary cap.

I don't know if there is any truth to it but the NFL has to monitoring developments in their current farm system and not liking what they see. The specter of having to hire current millionaires to fill up their rosters is got to eventually make it more expensive for NFL teams. Not to mention it ain't hard to imagine most 20 year olds who have already earned several million $ in college not being willing to do what is necessary for most players to successfully make the transition from college to the NFL. They were spoiled prima donnas before but they were also more or less broke...now they are spoiled prima donnas with pockets full of cash....
