Its GPA for core classes

Ok,you do know the requirements now are for the exact same core classes? Its now 2.0 and will move to 2.3.

The only other changes are the 10 of 16 requirments
before the Senior season.

These new rules aren't exactly game changers.

If you think that's going to be a major issue, then you don't understand how the system works: from the high school counselors and coaches to the registrars, clearing house workers, academic advisers, etc.

Aggie has the lowest Academic Power Rating across all sports in the SEC, maybe those in glass houses and all

Is this is one of those threads where everyone calls every school but their own a dumbass except for Vanderbilt who doesn't have any posters here because they don't have time for message boards?

Precisely correct.

So... What does tRant think? Which SEC team will be most affected by the new rules?

The Mississippi schools.

I mean, those are higher than the graduation requirements for most Mississippi colleges.

So they just get around it by taking summer school prior to the fall.

But as far as I'm concerned, if you can't pull just over a 2.0 in basic core classes then you shouldn't be qualifying for college anyway.

Unless you are really good at sports.....

Bunch of schools could be screwed.
Even more players will be screwed.

There are lots of great athletes that will be unable to meet the requirements. What's their alternate route to the NFL? (there isn't one)

Those requirements basically exist already at every high school in Texas and Louisiana to get into an SEC school outside of the fifth course in either math, english, or science. I expect a lot of creative writing courses on the transcript.

you think you can say things and make them true but you can't. only the republican candidates for president can do that. fact checking is hell.

It will affect every school. While there are smart athletes at each school it is normally the most athletic that neglect academics because of their physical talents. Top talent will drop.

Sorry, this isn't a huge jump from the current requirements.Just raising the GPA from 2.0 to 2.3
and finishing 10 of the 16 before your Sr. year.

Not gonna have much of an impact at all.

Not me. I would have to say that Mississippi High School players will be impacted the most by this new rule change. If this rule went into effect 6 years ago, Ole Miss would be in trouble. With the way Hugh Freeze has recruited nationally, that is not the case today. We only recruit a hand full of MS kids now and will only be affected by this as much as most other schools. I admit MSU is our rival, but not calling them out for it, but I believe they count on MS kids mainly to fill out their classes. This rule will impact them along with USM the most.

2.3

Anyone who can't swing a 2.3 in high school might be mentally retarded.
