4, 8 , or 16 and we would just end up with Bama and Clemson in the finals. More playoff games just means more teams lose on the way there.

Go back to two then. Bigger playoff would literally be the Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State invitational. If you are lucky enough to upset them good luck on the playoff rematch.

Why do people other than the owners (money) object to expansion? The CFP and BCS and everything before that have been decided by people or computers. It’s the only sport that’s not decided on the field. Set it up to be decided on the field. If you lose your conference, tuff shite, you’re out. If you only muster up 6 games in a season, tuff shite you’re out. If you play a team twice and it so happens you didn’t beat them in the conference title game, tuff shite you’re out. It’s not hard.

Because the more teams that participate in a single elimination playoff the more random the winner is.

If we had a 8 team CFP system....it would still lead to beitching and moaning by those left out. And you dont want teams playing in their home stadiums....not enough attendance to spread around....who is going to travel from Cincy to California and then travel again to maybe Texas or Fla??? Stick to four teams.

Nah.

Have an all-conference schedule.
Have bowl season be the first time OOC games happen.

Use bowl games to rank the conferences and take the top 2 for NC game - similar to BCS.

There are rarely 4 worthy teams - much less 8.
ND doesn’t belong and neither did A&M.

So the NCAA Tournament has a random champion?

It would mean more osses for ranked teams. The same best two teams will usually end up the finals. Essentially the best team in country will be the only top 16 team to finish the year with a win.

They have been meaningless forever. There has only been one or two at most bowl games that determined the National Championship. Ever. What is the difference now?

It hasn't been long at all since being the Rose Bowl champion was a big deal, or since a team was ecstatic about getting a Sugar Bowl invitation. Most teams that weren't in contention for the NC placed high value on such things, even during the BCS era. Now the media and the public focus ONLY on the playoff. The playoff completely devalued 30 other bowls.

6 teams will be fine. #1 and #2 have to be conference champions and get a bye. Or do something with play in games for the 4th seed, etc.

Top 10. Finished 10-2 and ranked in the top 10 to be eligible.

 16 team playoff

Also known as the regular season is now utterly meaningless.

Lose 3 games, still make the playoffs, all the stakes are sucked out of it.

That’s a fact. Really there’s never been four.

A top 10 would help out as it would allow more one loss teams in.

A 16 playoff is going overboard. If you lose more than two games then you are not eligible. If a team doesn't finish in the top 10 to end the regular season then they don't deserve to be in.

The playoff doesn’t really need to be expanded. Just add a couple of wild card type games and let 5 vs 6 play for the 4th spot. Or something similar.

The team that is ranked #4 is going to be a little pissed about this scenario..

An 8 team playoff would be even more meaningless.
