So now you can have 30 players per class?

Couldn't you technically just give players a bunch of NIL money and let them be "walk ons"?

You can still only put 11 on the field right? I guess this helps the lower leagues.

I think the opposite. It's going to significantly dilute talent among teams who can't afford to pay 105 guys. They've, in effect, just created major/minor league CFB with no salary cap and no draft

Doubt it. The reason they added the limits to start with was to help the lower leagues.

Big teams would just put a ton of players on scholarship and they wouldn't go to the smaller schools.

Auburn is already doing this for a few players this year.

It most certainly does not. A lot of those leagues probably won't be able to afford 105 scholarship players for starters. What it will do, is allow bigger leagues to give a kid a scholarship that they weren't going to be able to before, thus keeping him away from lower leagues.

This would be similar to how the big time teams in the 50's, 60's, and 70's would just stockpile players and sign an absurd number of players every year.

I bet most schools are under that
Won't be able to afford NIL and scholarships for that many players
Or most above 85 would still be considered walk ons
Will be interesting for roster dynamics

I'm not sure why teams would take that many players knowing 30 will transfer every year

Darn, the Vols would only get 103.

This only helps the big boys play keep away from poorer programs.

I love it.

Those are pre '75 levels.

It now becomes crystal clear that this is all about catering to the blue bloods and TV revenue.

So they're going to bring back JayVee squads as well, we must assume?

Will take a while to figure out how this plays with NIL. Are collectives going to pay a lot to those bottom 30 guys on the roster to pull them away from the smaller programs where they might actually play? These are guys who will be even more likely transfer when they don't get any playing time in their first few years. NIL money means a lot but these guys know that NIL is only going to be there a couple years if they don't get on the field.

The Bear uses to stack players on the swim team just to keep them away from other schools .Legal back then. But as football scholarships increase, so will the number of scholarships for all female athletes.. Why would a player want to be the #105th player when he could go else where & improve his playing time? Makes no sense.

I don't see the reasoning behind this unless they think people don't want parity in the sport. Just eliminate the smaller programs until you have more of an NFL product?

The plan for over a decade has been a 32-40ish team league separate from college football. They will only play each other.

Sucks.

People cry about teams playing FCS and all that, but without those games you never get to see FCS App St beat #5 Michigan etc.

I believe the ROSTER LIMIT is 105. Teams may give every player a scholarship. 20 more 'schollies, but no more 120 member teams.

While NIL had already made walkon players receive "scholarships," the new number is likely to further erode lower tier schools and even lower tier teams in major conferences.

Alabama had big rosters, but Nebraska was the king of walkons and giant rosters in the 1980s and 1990s.
