Agreed. Sadly, I don’t see the NCAA doing anything but riding it til the wheels fall off.
Maybe letting the whole thing collapse on itself is the solution. College athletics needs a total reboot anyways.

I'm quickly losing interest in this mercenary, quasi-professional, 2nd rate sport. If I want to watch a bunch of prima donna millionaires playing ball in the grass, I'll just watch the NFL. They're better at it anyway.

They already do. Coaches work under a contract and can’t leave unless a buy out is initiated. And the buyouts are typically heavy.
They should do the same to players. They can leave, but a buyout is owed to the school losing the player. That would slow it all down.

In fairness, he may not be going anywhere. He might get the NIL money he is seeking from West Virginia.

Do you trust the powers that be to rebuild it into a working and viable model? I don't.

They are giving out waivers to just about anybody that applies. Example: JT Daniels
2018-19: USC
2020-21: UGA
2022: West Virginia
2023: ???
If coaches can bounce at any given time, players should be able to as well.
